Bob Arum claims that Ricky Hatton wants a showdown with Floyd Mayweather later this year.
The Top Rank supremo says the Hitman's American promoter, Artie Pelullo, has been on to him about an Autumn match-up with the four-weight world champion.
Mayweather is being lined up for a superfight with WBO welterweight king Antonio Margarito in August, but if that doesn't happen, Arum insists Hatton - who boxes Luis Collazo for the WBA welterweight title in May - has put himself next in line.
"Artie Pelullo, Hatton's promoter, told me today that he had talked to the Hatton people and if Hatton is successful against Collazo and Floyd doesn't fight Margarito they would want to fight sometime in the early Fall," he said.
Hatton will also be an interested observer when a decision is reached on Mayweather's last fight, a controversial victory over Zab Judah.
Mayweather's trainer and uncle, Roger, jumped into the ring to protest at a low blow and a melee ensued before the fight was allowed to continue and the Pretty Boy took a comfortable points decision.
Judah's promoter Don King believes the trainer's intervention should have led to disqualification and called for an immediate rematch.
The IBF have agreed in principal, although Arum insists "nobody is taking them seriously".
"Floyd's potential fight with Margarito would be switched to August 12, it would get pushed back to have its own month rather than sharing July with the (Shane) Mosley-(Fernando) Vargas rematch

Good, either one of these would be great fights for PBF and I'd be surprised if anybody complained about him if he took one of these
Personally, I'm not interested in an ODLH fight, its better than if he fought a no hoper but it doesn't interest me that much
I didn't even know a Shane-Vargas rematch was being planned

Well, it takes 2 to make a fight and I have seen nothing from Hatton that shows me he is interested in this fight for later this year. Personally, I would rather see him fight Margarito before Hatton. Not because Margarito is the more dangerous of the two, I just like the prospect of that fight for Floyd. It would clear a lot up at 147.

tell hatton to fight judah, judah wants hatton and if he beats judah PBF wont be able to duck him...
but it would just lead to PBF judah 2 cuz zab would crush hatton ;D

Agreed.
Hatton's camp goes back & forth too much.
One day Hatton wants the fight in 07...then he wants it tomorrow...then he wants it in Sept...then he wants it back in 07.

I think he can lose to Collazo because Collazo has the advantages. I've watched him a couple of times because I wanted to se Mr Tattoo get knocked out, but he surprised me, I saw him again on an undercard where he fought a guy that fought Julio Cesar Chavez and he almost killed him IMO. So Hatton could be in a bit of trouble. Collazo could land that one big bomb and Hatton will be up the hill to bedforshire.

He won that fight but Gonzales is over the hill imo and Collazo's left hands weren't affecting him at all in the early going where Collazo, the same early rounds that Collazo will have to win in order to beat Hatton. And against Rivera, Collazo didn't have him in trouble once with the left hand. He just doesn't have the power needed to beat Hatton imo.

I don't think he needs to hurt Hatton. But he can outbox him. Collazo's a volume puncher an accumulative fighter. Which is the worst for Hatton to fight. He's better against a dangerous puncher who loses his luster in the later rounds like if Hatton fought Judah. But Hatton fighting Collazo, a fighter who gets stronger as the rounds go by may be bad for Ricky. I think this is a mistake for Hatton. Even if he wins he won't look good. Which will leave americans never hearing of him saying "what was the big deal about" Not fair but it will happen.

Damn Floyd has some money coming his way... I'm guessing Zab about 5mil if Tony is 8mil then Hatton would have to be 10mil and Dela Hoya at least 15mil!!
Now if Cotto keeps winning and beats Gatti later this year then Cotto will be worth a cool 10mil himself. ;D
Imagine the bling Floyd will be wearing when he retires!! he'll give Mr T a run for his money ;D

the hatton camp does seem to be somewhat indecisive. first its 2 fights before floyd and now its a possible fight in fall....
lets give margarito his crack first and then hopefully the hatton team can have their game plan in order....

I pick the Judah that fought Mayweather over Hatton anyday. Because I don't think Hatton punch much harder than PBF, and Zab is way too quick for him. A focused Zab would pick him apart I think.

I would rather see Tony get his shot first,he is far more deserving at 147 and Hatton should not be thinking too far ahead. As for Zab,he does not deserve any more big paydays until he actually does something IE WIN!! I mean come on guys,he has lost 4 of 7?!and if he were to fight Hatton,Hatton would cut through him like a chainsaw through butter and stop him in 7,8 at the latest. He would probably go down by a headbutt or something!!
