Top Heavyweights in 1992

My mate bought an old Boxing programme from 1st October 1992 from a Car Boot sale today.

It had a list of the top 10 Heavyweights in the world on that date and knowing that I am a boxing freaky he said "Bet you can't name them all"

I surprised myself by getting all ten straight off the bat.................................but I only got 4 in the right positions!!


Can anybody do better ?? - Have a go!!

I was gunna say, Britkids list better not be the actual one, ther's no way Lewis was above Bowe at the start of 92.. Lewis hadn't even fought anyone yet.

Actually it said as of OCTOBER 1st, 1992... So he hadn't... ;), and Holmes hadn't lost to Holy. Also Lennox hadn't done anything(beat Ruddock yet)

Holmes did lose to Holyfield in June of that year, having beaten Mercer in the February ;)

We were comming up to Lewis/Ruddock and Bowe/HolyfieldI in the time frame.

I think your original statement was closer to the mark. Going life and death with Cooper and Stewart, should not make you one of the best five fighters in the world. Further emphasised, when a few months later I remember desperately trying to stay awake watching Moorer/Bonecrusher.

I guess it just shows, despite the division being arguable as strong as it ever was post 78, it still kind of sucked. ;)

Yeh, having two grandads in the top 10 aint great is it - but when has HW ever been great?? Once maybe?

always baffled me how tucker was rated so high. is it because the second word was king?
