Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
From time to time...on this forum...my favorite place...my home away from home..I have been known for being many things.
Shut up bitches...I know you all want to say: "Gotdam right Wacko! Youv'e been known as many things...the first word that comes to mind is (insert foul explecitive language here) !!!
Anywho...as I was saying (before I so drunkenly interrupted myself) I have been know for being many things...one of the main ones is over critical. I pride myself in questioning fighters & their abilities to no end. It always makes for great conversation. That being said...I'm gonna take a lot of flack for this statement...but here goes:
After watching Wladimir Klitschko destroy Chris Byrd tonight...does everyone believe the hype?
I mean...the proof is in the pudding...& Wlad pretty much pounded Byrd into the consistency of pudding...but was that enough to sell you?
Was that enough to answer the many questions hanging over the Steelhammer's head?
I mean...was beating one of the most questionable fighters in the division to a pulp enough to make you believe that he's back in full effect?
Now...to those that doubt Wlad...what will he ever do to bring you over?
I'm still one of the doubtfuls...but I sure was impressed tonight.
Anywho...those are my questions about Wlad. If you have some...bring them to light...but give me some insight on the questions that I asked too if you don't mind...just curious here.
So...here we are with a new heavyweight champion...again...Wladimir Klitschko.
Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers & what are the questions? You tell me people.
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
Sorry, your Wackness, but MR. NIGHTMARE disagrees. Sam Peter was shown to be nothing more than a big puncher w/ limited boxing skills. Chris (his wife is fine!)Byrd was clearly undersized. When he proves himself to me against a bigger fighter who has true boxing skills, ala Lennox Lewis, then I will be convinced.
Kudos to Byrd for being a champ in the post fight interview. Now Vlad should rematch Brewster.
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
No it answered my questions.
But people that have been downgrading Byrd as a fighter on the board leading up to this fight with Wladimer beating Chris Byrd you'd think that they'd be saying "so what.. he beat a paper champ that should have lost his last 4 fights." But they aren't.. they are saying "Wladimer is like Ali" or are hyping him up. Those are the questions I have. Why credit him if he beat the so called "weakest" champ of the division, then he went in and did as expected right. So then it shouldn't be surprising and nothing new.
I don't think that at all though.
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
Thank you. What an excellent point you just made. He beat Chris (his wife is fine!) Byrd. Big deal!!
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
Hard to say. Nobody disputes that offensively he's very very good. But Wlad is all wrong for Byrd, a prime Byrd couldn't beat him, as we saw in their first fight, and this wasn't a prime Byrd. That's why I wasn't excited about this fight, it didn't mean much to me cause I was very sure who the winner was gonna be, I mean for an elite fight this was as close to a sure thing as you're gonna find.
He has stamina problems, and he tends to panic a bit when he gets hurt. I don't really like Teddy Atlas but when he said that Wlad didn't have a glass chin but had a glass mind I didn't disagree with him that much. Maybe that's too harsh, I don't know. I don't think he has an absolute glass chin for the simple reason that when he was knocked out it was by big punchers, but he's not the most relaxed guy in the whole world.
He's an elite heavyweight, no doubt, but beating a guy like a Lyakhovich, or a Brewster will prove more to me and thats what I've said from the beginning, in a 100 fights with Wlad Byrd might win one, its just a horrible matchup for him.
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
wlad has done an excellent job in disposing of byrd.....i thought byrd would be able to test him more, but i made errors of judgement. :-\
to be honest i would like to see wlad try and avenge his loss to brewster....that would answer a lot more questions for me....
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
Exactly, stylistic nightmare, guy he'd already beaten, nobody was picking Byrd.
Byrd... A. stood at arm's length and got steelhammered
B. ran inside and got hugged
I've said all along you've gotta have power to beat Wlad.
Honestly, Wlad probably is the best HW, but he's quite beatable.
It all lies in the matchup.

Agreed...but all respect to Byrd for taking the fight & I have always liked Byrd...but compared to Wlad...he's definently weak.

Agreed. I meselfish thought that he would be able to mount a bit better defense against Wlad's jab...but it broke him down & set the rest of that battering up.

I kind of agree...& then I don't.
I think that the majority of the issues that Wlad suffers from are self related.
Sanders came in & just jumped on him. Basically the same thing that Brewster did with Golota. That can happen to anyone. Wlad seems to be a bit better now that he has had a few confidence boosting wins.
I think that he'll do well...but as I said on the DRBR...I aint 100% sold on him...thus all the questioning of this post.
**Thanks for the help gentlemen & ladies.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
I think both Brewster and Sanders could do that because Wladimer never tried to hold them. But now he does it too often.

glad im not alone in being repulsed by her :)

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
as long as he dosent get "caught" there is noone on the planet (other than VK) who could beat him. just my opinion. he is as fast as anyone. has power better than most. to tall for most. and i think he has finally found his "pace" in a fight. i dont think youll see him get gased in a fight again. he had Byrd ready to go after the 1st knock down. he went for it but bryd survived and wlad relaxed and got him later.

agreed. wlad is all too willing to just hold these days. we all complained about ruiz for using such a negative approach. wlad should recieve similar critisism...

He's not as bad as Ruiz, but he does hold too much these days, why hold Byrd who has no power and isn't even that good of an in fighter?Clinching shouldn't be legal, period. Boxing would be better off if a fighter was deducted a point the first time he clinched. Its boxing, its not holding.

didnt look like holding to me. he was tying byrd up as he charged in (throwing kidney shots ). and twoards the end bryd was the one hanging on..........

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
what's the difference between tying up and holding ??? Its holding, period
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
its like what merchant said,
vladdy just clinches and pushes off, ruiz grabs, holds... holds... holds... and gets broken by the ref
also
vladdy punches and when his opponent gets inside he holds,
ruiz moves foreward with the intention of holding
-

watch a john ruiz fight and then a truely skilled fighter. there is a difference. when some guy is throwing bombs and you can get his arms in a position where he cant throw? thats not holding.

What?
When you can get a guys arms into a position where he can't throw by HOLDING his arms that's not holding?

He held Byrd the same reason Estrada held Shane Mosley. If you don't hold Byrd he will explode on you with combinations.

What?

no man. wlad was getting under byrds arms so he couldnt throw. he wasnt hugging him like some long lost friend. and after a while he was just pushing bryd off. the rest is history.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
there seriously was no excessive holding, ledderman even got told off for saying there was

the john ruiz comparison i made was a little strong but i used it just to frame how we dont like fighters who hold too frequently. wlad is definately holding more than he did a few years ago. significantly more so in fact.
its a tactic that ive no time for and it really shouldnt be tolerated....its bad for the sport...

Thats because Lampley and Merchent will not see anything negative Wladimer does unless he gets knocked out.
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
well they sure see alot of non-existant flaws in judah >:mad
i really dont see why people complain, half the times he clinched byrd had already wrapped on arm around vladdy to hit him with the other, which is holding and hitting

Getting under his arms so he couldn't throw???
He was holding excessively, period. Ruiz is the worst no doubt, but Wlad in the last few fights has held whenever a guy gets inside, whether he holds a guys arm from the bottom up or not is irrelevant. He was holding Byrd so he couldn't throw punches, you admitted that yourself. How is holding a guys arms so he can't throw punches defensible?
Wlad's good but excessive holding, really any holding, should be penalized. I guess unless you're holding from underneath a guys arms ???

No, I agree completely, excessive holding should be penalized

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
he wasnt excessive tho, he barley utilized the hold, and in the later rounds he didnt hold at all
this guy doesnt even hit on the break and he uses holding to his advantage
ON TOP OF IT ALL>>>>>>> he doesnt use holding to wear an opponent down
THATS WHATS WRONG WITH HOLDING
the lennox lewis kind of leaning on people, wlad holds for defense

It shouldn't be a legal defensive tactic though
Just imagine if a guy was allowed to hold in order to keep a guy from punching...AND he wore giant winning gloves ;D

"vladdy" was underhooking Chris' other arm and tried to get the other and Chris moved it so it wouldn't be grabbed and hit Wladimer with it, which is perfectly legal because Wladimer was the one underhooking Byrd's other arm.
They saw existant flaws in Judah because Judah isn't an HBO fighter Mayweather was, Judah wasn't the franchise of the event Mayweather was.
Believe it or not the commentators are biased.
When Jim Lampley says in the 12th round of the Sturm fight that De La Hoya "may" be losing. When its obvious he is. It's because he is HBO Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya. They would have said about any other fighter that they were running away.
And Neither Judah or Byrd could make HBO a money making machine. They have their picks on who they want to win. And their commentating sways to the house fighter. It is more obvious today because both Lampley and Merchant are FOR Wladimer. They only aren't for him when he is in a situation he can lose, as Lampley said in the Brewster fight "Wladimer makes Lennox Lewis look like granite" When a year earlier he said "No doubt the most pretty style in a heavyweight since Muhammad Ali." See they are baised to whoever gets them money and won't treat the house fighter and the challenger the same, if anything they are for the house fighter because it brings them money. There is no equal in a business world.

HAHAHAHA ;D :D
i still dont think big vladdy is anywhere near the league of ruiz, his holding is allways used to frustrate an attacking opponent, ruiz just holds cuz he doesnt do ANYTHING BUT FUCKING HOLD AND HIT ON THE BREAK

you should stick to those "cage fights" "k-whatever". ya know, anything but poking thers eyes out, biting and grabbing their "reproductive organs". if you can get your opnent in a position where he cant punch (with out wrapping your arms around him) its all good.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
First off, I'm really Glad to see Klitschko back in form. Secondly, I kind of felt bad for bird, because he's got a lot of class. And Finally, Klitschko's clinching is in now way shape or form comparable to Ruiz holding all the time. He clinched and pushed. He WAS NOT holding on for dear life and he wasn't slowing the pace of the fight at all. Perfectly fought. Congrats Wlad =)

Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
Byrd was the best of the champions IMO but this stylistically was a bad match up. Byrds defence has been sliding and his fights have become closer coz of becoming more agressive. Actually just to put it in short....wlad has his number. He beat him badly once and he did it again coz he knows how to. That leaves Peter....peter peter peter....i was never sold on peter. Everyone was lookin for a big powerful heavyweight to save the division....sorry people the division needs more then that and Peter couldnt offer it. It was obvious vs wlad that he had barely any skill and relied on nothing but pure punching power. Now i think the question should be....has wlad fixed his flaws? Wacko you say stamina and i say chin. But i do agree that wlads stamina has been a problem but Sanders knocked him out in two rounds. Granted...Sanders can punch but having a solid chin means taking solid shot and so far...wlad cant. He took some against brewster...got tired .....but got knocked out which IMO involves both problems, sanders took him by surprise...hurt him and knocked him out and Purtiy and exhausted him. I say he has a questionable chin and he knows it now and seems to be afraid of getting hurt just like how roy jones was against tarver the third time. He lost his aura of invincibility and has to learn how to deal with getting hurt. But in saying that i think from his record....stamina is the major problem. So really we have a big, powerful, skillful heavyweight who has been known to get tired in the later rounds and has been known to be a bit chinny.

The Peter fight is now that you mention it says alot about Klitchko. Peter who has limited skills, still was able to knock him down three times and almost knock him out. Can you imagine that fight if there wasn't any excessive holding? Does anyone really believe the result would have been the same? Henry Akinwande was DQed in about 5 or 6 rounds when he was holding Lennox Lewis. Wlad did it for 12 rounds and was barely warned. I think the rules only apply to boxers who don't have big network contracts or huge popularity that make boxing alot of money. Wlad is a very good fighter but I wonder how far he can really go without holding and pushing off.
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
I'm intrigued.....can someone post a pic of Byrd's wife?? Seems to have you people split. As for Wlad,he beat easier than most thought and deserves credit for that and he beat Peter too but these were guys most expected him to beat,I still think he needs to beat the 2 guys that beat him in order to fully restore his image as THE best HW. How do you guys think he would do against Brewster?> This HW division....they all have the tools to beat each other!
-
Re: Wladimir Klitschko. Questions asked...questions answered...what are the answers?
Guess I'll chime in with my insightful (albeit a bit late) comments:
1. Byrd's wife can be done. A deserted island, a little duct tape (the mouth has got to go)... and she can WWF me any time.
2. Wlad's performance was dominating. Does that mean he's the next Ali? Tyson? Lewis? Not so fast. The damage done to his image with the Sanders and Brewster fights will take a couple more good fights to erase. Not dissing the man, not giving instant stardom status either. Just being practical.
3. We posters seem to go to extremes, as well as being pretty predictable. The haters will find reasons to hate, even if the guy knocks out King Kong and Godzilla on the same night with one hand tied behind his back. The blind followers will excuse the fighter, even if he gets accidentally knocked out by his corner when they slap him to get his attention. (Hey, come to think of it.... I've been pretty guilty of this, too. What the hell am I talking about?).
4. We are all desperate for the heavyweight division to fix itself. If that means that Wlad is finally taking advantage of his physical skills and has begun to work on his stamina problems, so be it. For now, I'll be rooting for Wlad. He may even win me over eventually, since I was one of those that dropped off the bandwagon after his disgraceful performances against Sanders and Brewster (hey, at least I admit it).
