Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Pretty much an all heavyweight card. Ok first things first...it's a sloooow weekend of action as evidenced by this one ;D. Helenius might want to wear a brown bag over his head as the last time he fought in the States he was left in a pile by one Gerald Washington:-X. This is simply a case to see Kownackis progress as he now sits in top 5 across the board. Should be easy work.
Efe Ajagba fresh of an absolute war keeps active also v Razvan Cojanu. Should be a good showcase for Efe who genuinely has some questions to answer. Deceptive fireplug Joey Dawejko fights Frank Sanchez and on paper is his hardest comp yet.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Sanchez circling well here picking his shots the first few rounds. Dawejko may be cagey in spots for a small chubby dude but he really has fallen into a pattern of watching a guy work. He's been kept ring center and little work rate.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Hard long jabbing for Sanchez to open round. He's beginning to turn into that right hand and Joey cut around left eye now.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
slightly more output from Dawejko with some left hooks to midsection of Sanchez but cannot keep up with Sanchez. Like to see what Sanchez can do with putting more combos together. Didn't realize that about the legs of Sanchez until Lennox chimed in...'he doesn't have the big king kong legs' :cwm13:. They almost look unsteady at times ???
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Joey with two wide rights that clip Sanchez behind ear and forehead! Hey it's something. All Sanchez. One of these guys needs to get desperate.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Dawejko saves best shot for last second of 9th, nice sneak upper hook jarred Sanchez. Needs about 50 more of those. I don't know about Sanchez. Mobile, decent snap on the punches but his legs will prove to be a problem higher the comp. They just look odd.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
One judge actually found 2 rounds to give Dawejko. Other two saw Sanchez via shut out 100-90.
Ajagba and Cojanu up. Hope this goes the way Cojanu went out v Donavan Dennis. At least for the sake of time ;D
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Ajagba keeping it measured and landing half heated rights. Not much happening over 4 rounds. Here's an insane idea for PBC with a prime time spot on National TV...maybe put the two undefeated heavyweight prospects, Sanchez and Ajagba together :scratchchin:.
Little bit more steam on the punches of Ajagba end of 4th and Cojanu gets in a clubbing right.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Good steady work and breakdown for Ajagba. Cojanu gets steadily busted up with right eye swollen near shut and takes a knee in 9th after a solid uppercut and follow up flurry, ref waves it off.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Good promo piece on Kownacki the guy definitely has a rabid following at Barclays. Having little respect for Helenius in opening round with rolling shots to head and body. If the trunks of Helenius were any higher he'd be saving serious money on t shirts.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Helenius with success middle of 2nd with some solid one-twos and lands hard to body of Kownacki. Big exchange end of round with both having moments!
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Kownacki working the body and head of Helenius that pops up like a beach ball released under water. Helenius getting in clean clips as Kownacki comes in but little effect. Pretty good scrap into 4th.
Big exchange opening 4th..ohhh Kownacki down hard!!
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Wow. Wow! Helenius back from the dead :o. He got Kownacki in trouble and once backed Kownacki was all over the place taking shots, ref stops it. Man love the upsets. I did not see that coming
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
Helenius, for all his lack of boxing skill, always did have power.
In the amateurs, he had a combination of more KOs and more losses than any heavyweight contender I've ever heard of.
Re: Kownacki v Helenius - Ajagba v Cojanu FOX
So the HW ranks thin out just a weeee bit more.....
Once you get beyond the Fury-Joshua-Wilder (yes... I'll still mention him) level, the descending slope seems more like a cliff.
I mean... who's really out there. Joshua's to face old man Pulev in June, and then what?
I guess if Fury blows off Wilder's rematch clause you could see The Great British Unification. But if not... what then?
Slim pickings after that.
