Felix Verdejo wins by 1st round KO
https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...liy-lomachenko
Verdejo looked pretty impressive in blowing out previously undefeated Will Madera in one round. I'm not gonna get too excited about it just yet... as Felix has to get a couple more fights under his belt before we can see whether his comeback is legit. He certainly looked the part tonight, though. He looked quick, strong, and powerful. Once he got Madera in trouble with an uppercut near the center of the ring, he wasted little time in finishing him off in the corner. Madera was no slouch, either. We'll have to see how this plays out.
It turned out to be the main event in an ESPN Top Rank card which was supposed to feature Miguel Marriaga vs. Mark John Yap.... but that fight was cancelled after Yap showed up almost 10 pounds over the weight limit at the weigh-in. What a chump. Max Kellerman was on the air throwing Yap the towel, but to hell with that. Yap must've broken some kind of world record with that shat.
Re: Felix Verdejo wins by 1st round KO
It’s hard to tell with one round. I’ve never been sold on Verdejo and he will have to be impressive for multiple fights to prove me wrong.
Re: Felix Verdejo wins by 1st round KO
Nice to see something current, even if just for a moment. I have been to some fights that were practically empty. Watched fights on tv I knew didnt have capacity crowd because of the tight camera angles where they dont show empty seats.' So I was able to appreciate this one rounder lol!
TXH for posting it. This was like a quick fix. You didnt supply a blunt, just a roach, but it'll do!:pimp2:
Re: Felix Verdejo wins by 1st round KO
keep him away from the top & he can do okay
Re: Felix Verdejo wins by 1st round KO
Will Madera was undefeated but when I saw he had 6 kids at 29 I was feeling an early knockout was coming. It told me he took the fight for money while Verdejo is trying to convince everyone he’s truly back.
Nothing like beating up a bum to build your hype up.
It's the Top Rank way.
I mean Verdejo is still fighting 10 rounders at 27. C'mon maaaan. His stamina must be well suss.
Now he's talking about getting revenge against Loma for his defeat to him in Olympics 2012
Slow Down! Breathe! Baby steps! Beat Commey first! Maybe even someone like Yvan Mendy?
His loss to Lozada was 100%........................

So fair play to him for coming bk and he is improving with Ismael Salas/

But having said that he is improving with Ismael Salas
I don't think Madera fought like a bum, but to each his own I guess.
As I said in the OP, I'm not getting too excited about any Verdejo comeback just yet. Yeah... he's 27, but IMO a young 27. He got derailed and IMO deserves a chance to show he's back.
One round ain't gonna cut it... but it IS encouraging to see him with the movement, power, and boxing ability he showed early on.
I'm still gonna wait it out, not holding out too much hope... and see what he does next.
And no...... no Loma just yet. Other fighters out there to pick from.

Madera did not try to clinch when hurt. He just did peekaboo hand position.and took shots.
