Re: Juan Roldan passes away
R.I.P. Juan Roldan.
In one of the few generalizations I make in boxing, Argentines for the most part being heavy-handed knockout punchers is one of them. Roldan was one of the earliest in my memory.

Re: Juan Roldan passes away
Remember Roldan taking on the frightening Thomas Hearns for a middleweight title and taking a fearful beating. He even rocked Hearns and hurt him before being knocked out in the 4th round. One tough man!
Later found out he was the only man to put Hagler down, but as X wrote, it was more of a trip.
RIP Roldan, you gave us some good memories.
Re: Juan Roldan passes away
If there was a poster boy for fighters from Argentina Roldan would be that one. Two handed free thrower he was built like a redwood, knew one style and a very hard nail. He earned his way to huge showdowns with legends like Hearns and Hagler. Beat Kinchen before Kinchen went on to give Hearns all he could handle and dame near killed Frank Fletcher in a wild scrap. RIP Champion
