This is Andrew Cotton from North Devon surfing a wave in Portugal during the St Jude storm a couple days ago. He was the guy who towed American Garrett McNamara out to the previous record breaking 78 footer in November 2011. Garrett returned the favour. @Andre I tried to find the original thread but couldn't. Apparently their Brazilian friend Carlos Burle may have broke the record on the same day

That lady who goes out in that stuff she is hard core.
Re: Guy from my county surfs Mahoosive wave
She got knocked unconscious and could have died.
Re: Guy from my county surfs Mahoosive wave
You can tell he's from Devon because the trousers of his wetsuit are tied up with string.
Re: Guy from my county surfs Mahoosive wave
Badass!! The pucker factor of knowing your -eventually- going into that abyss in hopes of coming out the end is overwhelming. Enjoy the ride!
Re: Guy from my county surfs Mahoosive wave
I wouldnt go near that wave pictured above ,but there are large soft waves that break along in deep water, then there are these evil thick as,back breaking fast ones that throw over tonnes and tonnes of water in the barrel over shallow sharp coral reefs :o.
Bit like the death zone in climbing theres climbing, then theres putting it all on the line climbing.
