Re: sourpuss's training log
We do what we call 7 Ups. You do them with a partner (or more) Person #1 runs the length of the gym and back. (we run the width of the basketball court) Then person #2 runs down and back. Then #1 does 3, then #2 does #3. Then 5 then 7 then 5 then 3 then 1. So you are recovering while they are running.
I like running the stairs we usually do 3 minute rounds on the stairs mixed in with the other conditioning. They really work the legs and it gets your heart rate up, you should try them.
Re: sourpuss's training log
Yea i've seen people run them at the hockey rink, stairs. I'm guessing it would help build the legs. Leg strengthening is something I want to work into my next routine.
Re: sourpuss's training log
Okay sourpuss, where are the updates? :shakehead:
I demand updates. This is your ass chewing. Don't you be slacking on me now... :)
Re: sourpuss's training log
I'm here. I'm here!!!
Back in town, back in the gym tomorrow. I swear!!
Re: sourpuss's training log
If it's any consolation I slacked last week and am officially calling it a week off (with 2 workout days). Didn't have a good excuse like you either.
Easier to bust someone else's chops tho.
Re: sourpuss's training log
Ok, we're both back at it tomorrow then.
Re: sourpuss's training log
I went to another gym this evening because my coach is out of town for a couple of weeks.
We worked on some new tools on the mitts and sparred 7 rounds.
Even though I train a lot, the sparring I get really sucks and it shows. It's hard to practice the skills you have with people who aren't close to you level. In a lot of ways I think it's worse than not sparring at all.
I'm hoping to get back up there a few more times in the next two weeks. The sparring is a good as I could ask for, really challenging and I get a lot of feedback on stuff I need to work on.
Re: sourpuss's training log
Ok, heading to the gym now. I'm going to work on my footwork, which is in need of some major work right now. I have a bad habit of standing there and slugging.
Since I'm on my own I think I'll just work on some shadowboxing and plyometric stuff for my footwork.
Re: sourpuss's training log
So what you do to work on footwork? Details, details...
Re: sourpuss's training log
Well I tend to get really flat footed and not move laterally very much. So I'm doing a lot of moving around quickly and changing directions, pivots. As fast as I can. I'm not necessarily throwing any punches just in my stance and visualizing my opponent and trying to get angles, or cut off the ring.

I'm the exact opposite. I tend to bounce around too much. As a result sometimes my feet end up close together, and that isa recipe for disaster.
Re: sourpuss's training log
Crap! I just discovered the arcade section of this forum. This could impede my progress. :pacman:
