Saudi Women Can Drive for the 1st Time in 65 yrs, BUT....
Even though women are legally being allowed to obtain a driver’s license, the country’s “guardianship system” over women remains in place. This means that women will need to get permission from a male relative — typically a husband or father — in order to get a driver’s license in the first place. If the male chauvinist pig says no Then the woman cannot obtain her driver's license.
Soooooooo, yyyyyyyyeah........
Saudi progress?

It's a great thing. Didn't realize a wife had to have permission of guardian *cough* man to travel abroad. But driving should be a basic privilege for those who prove competent and responsible and don't turn hazard lights on in a heavy rain storm ;D. Certainly has to be a new since of freedom for women behind the wheel. Shit heel Hubby who makes her walk behind him in public better watch his step :-X.

Those who fought for the right are still in prison though.

I think we in the U.K. Are increasingly getting left behind technologically, especially since the Brexit vote.
On recent trips to Europe and America, and even Saudi Arabia, I have noticed that more than half of their vehicles are already completely driverless, with the front seat passenger able to sit back and relax while the empty drivers seat takes care of everything.
in fact, and ironically, it was only Japan that seemed to have no driverless cars just like us.

I think its just an appaling sign of the times. Saudi Arabia is a backwards hell hole, but now even the one thing they had right.....
