Middleweight, what’s next?
So after Canelo/GGG II, the division still has many excellent potential match-ups. Where do you think the division goes next and what are some of the likely biggest fights we could get?
Saunders faces Andrade.
Jacobs faces Derevyanchenko.
Murata will face Brant.
The winners will be hoping for the jackpot in May.
If Canelo returns in Dec, he’ll probably face Lemieux, unless Lemieux takes the WBA route. After a Dec. fight he should be back to his usual schedule.
Charlos is also the WBC mandatory.
For me the biggest fight to make is a 3rd GGG fight in May.
The Jacobs/ Derevyanchenko and Saunders/Andrade winners, probably don’t make as much, but they are unification fights. If Jacobs wins, then I would be happy for him to get Canelo next.
Derevyanchenko will need a bit more time to build, although I would have no problem with him facing Canelo next if he beat Jacobs.
If Saunders defeats Andrade, I would also be happy for him to get Canelo next. It a unification, Saunders has shown he is willing to travel, it also has the US vs UK theme.
If Andrade wins, I think they would wait for it to build, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it.
I doubt Charlo gets the mandatory in Dec, and unless their hand is forced, the WBC probably won’t do anything with the mandatory before next May. So Charlo needs a fight to end the year.
How do you guys see all this playing out?
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
Charlo has been ducked since getting to middleweight which is unfortunate because I think he could be top of the division. Someone needs to fight him. I wouldn’t mind Canelo fighting the winner of Jacobs/Derevyanchenko or Saunders/Andrade.
Styles makes fights and I think that many of these fighters give Canelo fits because they all move better than GGG at this point in his career and won’t go in there and attack. Canelo needs to prove to me that he can actually beat other top Middleweights since he lost on my scorecard twice to GGG.
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
I still think Charlo is the shark in the water. Canelo and GGG go again it's frankly all they're thinking about for a year plus. Lemieux looks next up. I'm really looking forward to Jacobs and Derevyanchenko who fall right into the mix. I don't think Jacobs copes with the speed. Saunders belongs with any of the above and should out Andrade Andrade.
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
Canelo KO's Lemieux and beats GGG in May in another disputed decision.
Saunders loses to Andrade.
Jacobs beats Derevyanchenko.
Charlos is kept waiting.
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
Ok so if Canelo defeats Lemieux, then fights GGG next May, do any of these other guys face each other?
Jacobs/ Saunders could be done if both won.
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
So the WBC have allowed Canelo to make a voluntary defense, while Charlo and GGG face each other to determine the mandatory.

That is hard on GGG.

Why’s that bud? I mean does GGG (or any other fighter for that matter) have the divine right to only fight World title fights?
He got beat in a rematch , he has to regroup and earn his shot . Fuck me , let’s just not bother with a MW division and have GGG fighting Canelo twenty times!

Make Canelo fight Charlo
GGG v WBO winner
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
I actually like the GGG/Charlo fight. I also feel bad that GGG can't get an immediate rematch. Hell, Canelo did, even after failed tests and favorable judges.
The rematch was good enough to warrant an immediate rubber match in my opinion. This is just typical tho, so not surprised. We all knew Canelo would fight some Lemieux in December, then look at a big fight in May.
Only question I have is, how long until a GGG/Charlo is made? I heard GGG was going to rest up for the remainder of the year, does the fight get made before May?
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
Is there any way in the world GGG can not be a martyr? He is supposed to fight Charlo to get a shot at going right back after the money fight. That is not a victim situation. That is for once a governing body doing exactly what’s right because
1)when champ they said they “would never fight Charlo” even though he was the mandatory. That’s BS
2)it is the fight boxing fans want and have wanted
3)boxing fans don’t care about Canelo, let him and the casual fans go do some Lemieux casual nonsense. Let the fighters fight. GGG/Charlo, fu$# yeah!

Right. So GGG DOES have the divine right to fight World title fights only? Ok then.

Yeah, but that was GGG’s choice as champion to do that, so he can’t cry about it. He could easily have fought someone else and fucked Canelo off out of it.
GGG can rest till next May if he likes, but he won’t be fighting Canelo , Charlo will. Bravo for once to a governing body doing the right thing, even if it is for a drug cheat that doesn’t deserve it.
Re: Middleweight, what’s next?
Is Charlo ducking or being kept waiting....
Don't think we need to see GGG Canelo III

Enjoy your vacation, Ginger. Those belts are on short-term lease, and the contract isn't going to be renewed. ;)
