Boxing Commitments and Work..

Hi lads,

I wondered if anyone could help me please.

I've just started working for Royal Mail as a Postman and it's likely I'll be working every Saturday and finishing at 3pm-3:30pm most days. I want to go into amateur boxing and I understand that the bouts mostly take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. With some tournaments taking place on Saturday day times.

What I want to know is, do certain companies allow you leeway to compete in these tournaments? Are they obliged to changing your shift days/times so that you can compete? I know most of you will say I would need to check with Royal Mail about this, but I just wondered if companies (particularly Royal Mail) HAVE to comply if your involved in tournaments etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
