Thoughts on getting KO'd?
Who has been knocked out in a boxing match? I'm wondering what they thought. Frustrated, embarrassed, humiliated, angry, something else?
I think it's one thing to be KO'd after 3-5 rounds of heavy hard hitting action. It would be bad, but at least semi-understandable.
Now the guy who goes down 30 seconds into the first round and starts catching up on his beauty sleep, I'll bet he's thinking that everyone in the place is laughing and pointing at him, saying "What a WUSS! He didn't even last the first round! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!".
What are your experiences like this?
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?

Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
No, haven't even started at a gym yet. Just doing research.
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
Think of it this way, a boxer can die in the ring....getting KO'd doesn't seem so bad now does it?
I've been hit plenty hard and I think I'm pretty used to it now, I mean every now and then I'll get cracked but I haven't hit the canvas or anything, I'm just not surprised when I get hit that's the main thing, I expect to get hit, I ain't RJJ or Ali I'm not going to dodge many punches
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
Randy- you haven't joined a gym but you reckon it's funny to get knocked out, you sound like a real tough guy. ::)
Tell you what you go laugh in Lennox Lewis's face and tell him he's a wuss for getting caught cold. If and when you wake up you can come back and tell us about it.
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
No, no Missy - you've got me all wrong. I'm merely wondering what members of the audience are likely to think. I don't think this way myself. I'd probably be frustrated or mad if it was me who got knocked down.
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
I've been KO'd
the last thing on my mind was what the people watching were thinking.
but I do remember thinking about how many beers I had left in the fridge while on the deck.
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
Yeah if i got knocked down or knocked out i wouldnt give a shit wat ppl thought coz i would be concentrating on getting up and even if they were laughing i would tell them to go fuck themselves or get in the ring and try boxing.
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?

If you're unconsious you aren't going to be thinking much.
Look if you're hurt you're not going to be worried about what the crowd thinks and you're probably in no condition to be mad ::)
BTW how old are you?
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
I'm 34 with a birthday coming up in a few months, but I'm knocking off a few years for as far as boxing is concerned, because I've spoken to a few boxing gyms in my area and they all say the same thing, there's little to no chance for a fight if I get put in the 35+ master class. So I've chosen to lie (but only for if they ask my age) and give myself a few years in the regular amateur / amateur open class, assuming I like it and do enough training and sparring first to keep doing it.
A place I spoke to recently said the master class used to be 47 and older, but they bumped it down to 35. Is that true? How long ago did it happen?
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
i dun know how it is in the rest of the world.
but down here in holland, you have to do your firts amateur bout b4 you turn 30, and then you con box
till 35. if you havent got a fight b4 you turn 30, you wont get a fight.
i guy at my gym started training at 30, he kinda has talent but he prob will never show that outside the walls of the gym.
i never got KO'd cuz i never had my first bout (yet), my trainer says i ready, but i don't feel ready (yet).
but i've seen many fights with some1 getting KO'd in the 1st/2nd round, and i've noticed that there never was any1 who laughed, every1 was silence.
there is no shame in getting knoked out,
it's a shame when you cant accept it
Re: Thoughts on getting KO'd?
my opininon on people who get ko is
i respect them in the first place for going up and fighting ,
when people get knocked out and just stop boxing from that point on(ass in dont turn up to trainning etc) i lose respect for them
but thos who come back and carry on trainning and put more effort in i respect a whole lot more because it can be hard to come back after being beatin and it shows determination that they come back and train to improve.
i no i am new and might not no much but that is my 2 cent
