floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
Larry Holmes was also 48-0 when the Brocktonblockbuster said "Here comes 48-1, bitch!"
OK I'll kick the karma back in here:
Rocky couldn't carry Floyd's jockstrap.
-
Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
It happened to Paul Spadafora recently too, he was 48-0 and then took his first loss.
Maybe that's why Floyd chose an easier fight for his 49th.
-
Floyd will pick an even easier opponent for #50. No need to worry about Floyd, Cesar Cuenca will probably fight to 55-0 and then retire.
If I was Cesar I'd start watching my back, Floyd might pay to have both his arms and legs broken! LOL

Rocky beat Muhammad Ali even after he "died", as his 13th Round knockout of Ali was announced in January 1970.
Then Rocky beat Larry Holmes via the Spinks Jinx in 1985/6.
Then as @Beanflicker said Spafafora got hit at 48-0 with a doooozy of a Soooozy Q
Floyd is fucked up the ass as Rocky Marciano " couldn't carry Mayweather's jockstrap"
-
Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
Marciano fought like 4 guys(at the most) who were legitimate challengers although every single one was at least half shot, and not one great current HW. Chavez Sr could have retired at almost 100-0 after having been a dominant champion for a good while, but nobody would really consider that to be a championship record by any means. Why is Marciano treated so differently, just because he retired? Floyd has already destroyed his record, as have many many others.

This is the single biggest reason why I hate Larry Holmes.
Well.... that and the fact he was always bitching about people not liking him 'cause he was black.

Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
Larry would have destroyed Marciano

Or maybe it was because he was and still is an ignorant SOB. He definitely fit the description of the "Angry Black Man". Don King would often criticize him for his lack of personality.

Rocky Marciano through sheer training and conditioning would wear down any fighter in the modern era.
Derek Chubby Chisora, Chris "Burrito Nose" Arreola, Davie-Boy Price, Lamon Brewster, etc. All would wither under the onslaught.

That jab would have had his face tore up beyond recognition.
Holmes by TKO (cuts)

Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
No, Marciano would have beaten everyone through sheer training, because nobody trains anymore. Marciano comes from a time when fighters were real fighters, even though there weren't any good natural HWs on the planet during his entire career, those were the hardest men in history he fought, all of them. Holmes never fought guys who had to sweep hallways, or drive a garbage truck all day before they trained, he couldn't have lived with those kind of gritty and determined warriors.

Hahaha that's a good point, never looked at it like that before!
Anyone can fight a well conditioned athlete who's afforded the best in nutrition and training for a solid 8 week camp.
Try fighting a guy who hasn't eaten in 3 days and had to work a 10 hour shift as a long shoreman a few hours before the fight.

Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
All I know is Holmes is a bitter old bastard who never succeeded in leaving Ali's shadow. All he did was bitch and moan how he wasn't popular enough... how everybody hated him 'cause he was black (news flash, Larry: I hate you 'cause you're a whining bitch)... how the only color he liked was green... how Rocky Marciano couldn't carry his jock (that made Larry even more popular with the crowd  ). In fact, if Larry wasn't bitching, he was asleep. I was ecstatic when Tyson knocked the man-boobs off of him... one of my favorite fights of all time. He can say whatever he wants..... and still nobody likes him.

Two Ton Tony Galento was the 4th cousin of my uncle Roy (WWII veteran, landed on the beaches of Anzio, Italy).
Know how @ross @maxpower @bean flicker @p4pking
He got his nickname?
@Dia bando Tony Galento would work 9 am to 5 pm delivering 660 pound blocks of ice to pubs, bars, restaurants in Orange, New Jersey.
This cocksucker could knock out a truck.
These hard men would PUNCH LIKE A MULE. modern fighters would crumple under their sheer brute force and force of will and character.
What those men withstood---- punches like LaMotta or Marciano or Walcott or Ezzard took, WOULD DESTROY MODERN FIGHTERS IN 3 ROUNDS.
Marciano would obliterate the weak bellies of the modern heavies with their spare tires and burritos and fast food.
-
Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
Yup, that's just what I'm talking about. You'd think there would be ONE fighter who still had the desire to train by hauling blocks of ice around shitfaced, but instead all these massive sissies spend their time roided up, in the gym every day, probably even eating right and getting massages on their down time, modern bitch made stuff like that. Imagine how bad Tony Galento would have chinned out pretty boys like Ray Mercer, Vitali or Oliver Mcall, I shudder to think!

Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
Rocky was in the weakest era of hw boxing the 20's 30's 40's 60's 70's 80's 90's 00' and 10' are all better then the era Rock was in. Louis was pro wrestling and old as fuck, Walcott old as fuck, Charles lhw with a illness and shit tone of fights and last but not least Moorer old as fuck never did shit at Hw was lhw. I mean Rocky had maybe 10 real heavyweight fights and was out pointed by some fucker no one will remeber but got a gift from the mob. Rocky good guy and hard worker but get real he is not a Hw champ by today maybe if trained drop weight he could 175er and be somthing today but a heavyweight he is not. I mean talk all the shit on Wald you want if he hit Rock in the face he would look like a bloody vag his nose would be on the fucking ring as he got deep dicked by 83 inch reach of Wald.

Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
Floyd will go for the 50 and claim to be tbe.

Yeah but that jab though.
I'll grant him that. ;D
It was probably so effective because the opponent was mesmerized by Holmes' man boobs quivering every time he threw the jab.

Tisk tisk tisk.
Now who's the bitter one?
Blowing out Holmes' candle won't make yours shine any brighter.

Holmes candle got blown out by being sandwiched between Ali and Tyson.
Kind of explains the bitterness.

Marciano would have looked at Haye's toe and David would have collapsed. Rocky was the little engine that could. Fact as Fenster would say.

He could made himself a likeable champion and had 7 years to do it. He chose not to because of his shatty personality...

that's a great idea, cuenca v mayweather if they both make it to 49-0, they're pretty close in weight they can have some weird catchweight for a newly created title.. I hope it happens :S

Cesar Cuenca's 45th fight was against a guy with a 16-9-2 record and his 40th fight's opponent was 11-10-4!!!
That's not a record breaking record.

I know that, I am joking, cuenca has only 2 kos and I don't think he has fought outside of argentina... It would just be a funny novelty is all
-
Re: floyd should retire b4 Marciano's ghost gets him
I think Lucas Mattyhse would have a slight edge in power if he and Cuenca battled to see who the best 140 pounder from Argentina is.
