Re: Gods of Snooker - BBC
Haven't watched it yet but was just talking about it the other day. Different World. My snooker anecdotes if you like would be along the lines of I saw so and so quietly practicing in the corner of a local snooker club. By comparison my father in law who was quite a keen player back in the day told me how he sat and watched Bill Werbeniuk sink 15 pints in an afternoon and go on to win his evening match. That sounds mental today but was no doubt the norm back then.
Re: Gods of Snooker - BBC
The 15 pints were for medicinal purpose for Bill, he would get the shakes otherwise.
Most people love Higgins, White and Sullivan but hated Davis and Hendry. I was at university for 4 years and every year White would lose the final. Thought he would at least beat Parrott the one year but lost the match when he blew the first session 7 nil and could never catch up.
I never stayed up for Taylor beating Davis on that final black.
Great memories.
Re: Gods of Snooker - BBC
The missed red at 59-0 and 15-14 up against Higgins in the 82 semi was a massive sliding doors moment as I've said before.
Pot that red and I reckon he'd have had 3 or 4 world titles at least.
Re: Gods of Snooker - BBC
I used to watch a lot of snooker and barely watch it any more
I think that's the introduction of as many channels as you can get your hands on
it was one of those things id put on because it was miles better than the other 3 channels and once i started watching i could watch for hours
