R.I.P. Hugh Downs, a newscaster from another era, when newscasters were for the most part professionals who earned and kept the viewers' respect. They certainly don't make 'em like they used to.
Imagine if Hugh Downs was rambling north west of Bristol in England and he had a terrible fall.
The headline would read -
"Hugh Downs is Down in the Downs"
I liked that guy. Down to Earth type. Of all things I remember seeing him on old reruns of the Mike Douglas show as a kid.
