RIP Peter Green
I came to Peter Green through Gary Moore whom Green had lent his Les Paul to when the Belfast born guitarist was still a teenager. The purity of Green's tone seemed to remain with the Northern Irish legend, who like Green seemed able to use the guitar to speak as though it were a sacred conduit built to channel magic.
There are riffs and then there is 'Oh Well', a riff so sexy it takes your trousers off while you are still dancing. That Green could make you want to smash the ten commandments with one song and then cry and pray for forgiveness with the next is a tribute to the humanity of his playing and the power of that yearning, mournful voice.
Without the blues there are no next steps and Green played them not like an imitator, but like an true original, because he was the real deal.
Long may he soar high over the longest night.

Re: RIP Peter Green
I really like that relaxed mood of that song, laid back and cutting just the same; I was impressed by the rhythm guitar work around 1:45- 1: 55, what a sweet tone that Les Paul has, throaty and jagged and raw, yet a kind of subdued mellowness as well.

Re: RIP Peter Green
I played Oh Well thinking I didn’t know it. But I did and have known it for years. Never knew it was Fleetwood Mac !
Quite prophetic and amusing that the 2 people Green named the band after would be the only 2 permanent members of the band. John Mcvie one obviously but can’t remember the other guy without checking - one of you guys will probably recall it.
RIP
