Should you call after you applied to a job?
Hey Guys,
I put in an application for employment, but the folks had not called me back yet. Should I call them and ask what's up? Or let it slide. I REALLY want this job.
Just a note: I know the covid-19 has things shat up, but I put my application in from Jan 20 which was supposed to close at Jan 30 and I went back to the online portal, and realized that they changed the open period to span between Dec 2019 to Dec 2020. WTF?!?!
Should I call and ask about that? A friend of mine who works there says that they would be extending the open period, what should I do?
Someone told me to not call, because "people don't like that" but I really want to know and don't want to be waiting in vain for a job I know is suited for me.
What would you do?

Call them and ask them politely what is going on.

Call up coughing hard and ask if masks are mandatory

ykdadamaja: "Hi, this is YK, I had an interview with you about a week ago, and I just wanted to follow up. I really am very interested in the position, and would like to express my enthusiasm for it again. About how much fucking longer will you cunts need to make your decision?"
HR Dept: " YOU'RE HIRED!"

Just tell them to give you the job or you'll give their number to Steve here.

Callings one thing but who you actually talk to matters more. Resume wise include that you swore off and stopped wanking too! Emphasis and personalize the new hire experience.
Re: Should you call after you applied to a job?
Seems a simple question, but this generation has turned it upside down from my resume days where I would bombard the HR department with resumes then follow up several calls a week.
At least in I.T. if you do that, they now discount you. Worse is that no longer could I apply for a job through several temp agencies. Now if that occurs, they discount that as well. When I got my gig working for State of Ohio they want you to sign stating I YKDamaja consent to rent-a-worker temp service to represent me.
If your industry isn't picky like that...ring their phone off the hook!! 30 million unemployed is nothing less than not good. Wish the best- take that job.

It's a diplomatic job with the US govt. It posted an advertisement in my section of the paper, which spoke to all of my quals and experience. I felt as if they were hunting me. lolol... Who else in my small country would have the quals they are looking for but me? lolol....

You're very perceptive; the US Govt will ALWAYS hunt people.
