The greatness of vasyl lomachenko!
Considered by many as the best pound-for-pound Olympic/amateur boxer of his generation, Ukraine's Vasyl Lomachenko won his second gold @ the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer. He's had over 350 fights with only 1 loss that he avenged. He's beaten all the top Russians, mexicans, puerto ricans, americans and Cubans.
Superb technique coupled with awesome power makes for a deadly combination and these attributes are what make the southpaw from Odessa such a tremendous boxer.
The Val Baker Trophy winner Vasyl Lomachenko - Ukraine won:
-Gold @ Featherweight @ 2008 Beijing Games
-Gold @ the 2009 world amateur championships.
-Gold @ the 2011 world amateur championships.
-Gold @ Lightweight @ 2012 London Games
He is already considered one of the greatest amateurs of all time.
This guy tore the beijing and london games up, and has a very pro style to boot...This kid is special.

Re: The greatness of vasyl lomachenko!
You've already got me looking forward to checkin the kid out. He got a BYE in the first round and is set to take on Wellington Arias Romero (i think thats the name) on Thursday at 13.30 UK Time.
Enjoying watching the boxing. Good times.
Re: The greatness of vasyl lomachenko!
I think he'll win Gold again this year. What would be really impressive is if he won the Val Barker Trophy again. Nobody's ever done that before...not even three time Olympic champs Papp, Stevenson, or Savon.
Here's Lomachenko winning Gold in Beijing.

Lomachenko Eyes American Pro Debut After The Olympics - Boxing News
Quote:
Vasyl Lomachenko, an international superstar of amateur boxing, thought by many to be one of the best masters who have ever laced up the gloves in the unpaid ranks, is considering a transition to the pro game right after the 2012 London Olympics.
“I’m thinking about turning pro after these Olympics are finished. I’m thinking of a U.S. debut”, said Lomachenko in his interview with the 2x2 Ukrainian TV Channel. “The real prizefighting is in the States. Its level, the best fighters – all of this can be found only in America. Frankly speaking, I see no professional boxing both in my native Ukraine and in Europe."
Lomachenko, 24-years-old, who is now competing at lightweight, jumped to stardom after his blistering performance and a gold medal at the featherweight limit in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has also won the Val Barker Trophy in Beijing, being selected as the most outstanding fighter. Lomachenko added two gold medals in the world championships in 2009 and 2011, also becoming a European champion in 2008.
He will be a key figure for an extra strong Ukrainian national team, alongside 2011 world champions Olexander Usik (heavyweight), Taras Shelestyuk (welterweight) and Evgeny Khytrov (middleweight) as well as light welterweight Denis Berinchyk, who won a silver medal in Baku. Ukraine is considered as a big favorite to come out from London as the best boxing team.

Hass he fought yet? Hows he doing?
Re: The greatness of vasyl lomachenko!
He won easy and looked great.
Re: The greatness of vasyl lomachenko!
What Fenster said. Vasyl stayed pretty much in first gear the whole fight and still dominated Romero 15-3. Romero suffered 2 standing eight counts.

Verdejo (Puerto Rico) gave Vasyl a stern challenge but ultimately fell short 14-9.
