Re: Covid- 19 - Second wave
Had a new employee call is Wednesday. Says she went to the hospital with a 102 temp and our owner says she sounds horrible but said they tested her and it was neg. Oddly enough she won't answer calls this afternoon from manager, receps or myself. Suddenly owner had other staff do a complete bleach scrub down this afternoon and was seen wearing a mask all day. Hasn't worn a mask in literally weeks. This girl is scheduled to work tomorrow and I really..really get a bit curious with the evasiveness of talking to others, all but the owner.
A skeptical mind might think things are not as they appear and a certain someone fears business-employee loss should a positive test come to light. Maybe the mind is on overdrive. Maybe not. Doesn't help that said owner has been downplaying the risks, slams Fauci and the CDC regularly and just reopened the lobby last week, a very crowded lobby. Just thinking out loud

these owners are really conflicted - trying to stay afloat and at same time trying to avoid a cluster of infections.... but I feel playing both sides is just a disaster in the making. Have heard talk of the "lesser of 2 evils", or the cure "being worse than the disease". Well, it all depends on someone's perspective. Whats worse for example: losing "only one" employee and keeping the business going? Or the business taking a huge hit, 50 people being laid off, but no lives lost? I dont know. One life lost cannot have a price tag. The unemployed can collect unemployment insurance. Anyway, sounds like the owner isnt being 100% transparent, and I would certainly think someone there would ask him what the Super-Scrubbing is all about. It's only normal for a mind to wonder. I wouldnt call that overdrive at all, I'd call that prudent and healthy thinking.

Just an awful feeling for those in service industries. A friend of mine struggled as a musician here until a guy we saw as our own hero back in the 1990s got signed to play for Wayne Newton in Vegas. He was noticed & got recruited to play with Earth Wind & Fire. So he offered the Vegas job to my buddy. Man he made thousands per week and then!! Some hottie cougar from Australia picked him as her chocolate sugarbaby- which led to him doing shows on a cruise ship. Which got him to the most $$ doing shows in China. Which was- damn late last year.
His whole world changed the past 8 years after 20 years of club acts. Now he is stuck in China and no shows.
I know of 2 people who are suffering because they made money on dine in experience. It's over now.
When I browse the history on plagues, viruses, it seems they come & go when they please, only with our era, travel isnt just based on soldiers and shipments, now its anyone with some money can hitch a boat or plane ride. The plane was how my friend came down with it.
She eats no fast food, very few sweets & kept pampering me with remedies food/beverage to consume, so I wouldn't catch it. Of all people I couldn't understand how she got it until she told me she went to New York for a weekend and within 2 days she lost her sense of smell & taste. Even though the seating was every other chair on the plane...that air had nowhere to go. Or as the President told Bob Woodward- it is airborne. You don't have to touch anything to catch it.
And as long as he plays the line on both sides where he has followers who wont hold him accountable, yet deriding it either as chinese' fault or non-existent hoax, they will ensure we see this shit for a while.
Damn, seemed like we were just hearing, when it gets warm it goes away from him. And now we are close to November where I have seen two reports of people catching it & the flu. WTF can we do?!
Worse, what can those whose businesses are built on servicing others do? Earth is shaking things up again, only a few make it out when mother earth settles down.
Stay safe & Hope well for me too. I will be doing the Museum this weekend. Can hold up to 400 people, but the way it is set up is to hold a max of 150 people. The week after is the podcast, that isnt during the zoom time! Still hope I will chat in soon.
I'll hit you up on the script tip when I get back from Mil-town.

then why aren't the masks stopping covid cases? & why did they need to create a flu vaccine if masks worked so well?

The fact that it offers 'little protection' adds credence to the argument that you might as well pop one on for a few minutes to go into a shop because it might be helping, right? Do you want a little protection, or none?
Lets run with it. How big them smoke particles as opposed to the COVID particles. Or rather the particles COVID binds itself to?

They largely are, when worn.

The CDC's recent study doesn't fill me with much hope about it. 85% of cases (in their study) come from people who wore their masks consistently.
Sweden has taken a good approach to this.

Re: Covid- 19 - Second wave
Are Covid aerosol bearing particles bigger than fart particles, because you can smell a fart through a pair of pants and a pair of jeans?
That's arguably more protection than a single layer mask, but it still gets through.
More importantly, can you therefore catch Covid from farts?
