Couldnt resist ;D
I've never claimed to have read anything that I havent. I think of certain books and think maybe I should read that just to see what the fuss is all about. I genuinely used to perform French poetry recitals through school but now I could scrape by with a hello/goodbye and can I have a beer and a sandwich, not much more needed to be fair. Everyone lies about their job, especially when going for another one, nothing wrong with a bit of poetic license. Wine, couldnt give a flying fuck. I love Back To The Future, all of them. Anyone that doesnt is a wrong un in my book.
Re: Tactics we use to appear more intelligent
I changed the spelling.

Never been a big reader. I dont have the patience. I might get through a book once every couple of years. In fact I have just recently finished a book that took ages to complete.Had to read lots in university studying humanities.
Changing our appearance
Presently I look like the Mad Trapper or Grizzly Adams but with longer hair.
Correcting other peoples grammar
I make more mistakes then anyone.
Dropping famous quotes into conversations
I've done that but only because they are fitting at the time.
Claiming high fluency in a foreign language
I can barely speak English. My Spanish was real good years ago.
Exaggerating academic achievement
I have a degree in humanities with a major in Philosophy. Nothing to brag about.
Using thesaurus to make words in a document or email
I've never used a thesaurus for anything. Ever.
Lying about job role and status
I'm a grunt with the Public Service.
Exaggerating knowledge of wine
Never fancied rotten grapes but I do like Merlot. That is the extent of it.
Dismissing popular films as rubbish despite enjoying them
I dont think I have actually done that.
I can come off as arrogant at times but I dont mean to. I just have a low tolerance for stupidity.
Re: Tactics we use to appear more intelligent
I use the thesaurus one quite a bit to make my vocabulary seem a bit bigger on occasions, especially for uni work where essays are essentially 5000 words of waffling
Re: Tactics we use to appear more intelligent
The films thing, I'm the antithesis (thesaurus ;) ) of what Master describes. I tend to think 'classic' films are a steaming pile of turd.

Re: Tactics we use to appear more intelligent
When I am around smart people who are in conversation I usually remain silent and give them a look that says they don't know anything. I'm doing it right now to you guys.
Re: Tactics we use to appear more intelligent
Correcting other peoples grammar

1) I have read classic books, not all but a fair few.
2) Never, jackets shall be timeless.
3) Guilty as charged.
4) Occasionally do so.
5) Intermediate.
6) Never, only the truth.
7) Never really needed to.
8) All truth.
9 Can't stand that in people, just drink it.
10)Don't enjoy contemporary popular films in the slightest.

Re: Tactics we use to appear more intelligent
Automatically criticising things because it's a lot easier to look intelligent critiquing than it is praising.
Critique the mainstream (only a mindless drone could possibly enjoy that, you're clearly above the others) and praise pretentious rubbish (how could those mindless drones possibly appreciate the subtle nuances of this masterpiece?)
