Had it on as background when I last looked, but it's turned into badminton now! ;D
Anyone with a Sky Q box can get the Discovery + channel free for 12 months.
They're showing loads of Olympic events
The Super Heavyweights should be good with 2 well seasoned fighters in GBs Frazer Clarke and the USA fighter Richard Torrez.
Torrez is tipped for big things, he's only 22 and has only lost a few in about 150 fights beating hot prospect Jared Anderson on the way.
Hopefully Frazer and Torrez will meet at some point.
You mean this Torrez who got put to sleep? Americans have no talent above middleweight.

Dayam....
Yeah the same Torrez as in the video is the fighter being tipped for big things,
We all remember that KO which caused outrage 3 years ago
The complete mismatch sparked a furious reaction among the boxing community, led by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.
"Brutal and criminal to allow a professional boxer Jalolov from Russia with 6-0 as a pro to fight outclassed, outweighed and far smaller USA 20-year-old amateur Torrez AIBA world championship in Russia,” he tweeted.
I'll watch but then not sure how I will as they seem to only show rowing but I wish they would show all the sports. I disagree with pro boxers being allowed in.
I think these pro's underestimate how good the top amateurs are. Look at Artur Beterbiev, he didn't turn pro until he was 28 and is seen as a monster in the light heavy division right now. But he was no were near the top amateur in his divisions.
The likes of Keyshawn Davis is in for shock, if he things he can just go to Tokyo and pick a gold medal easy and run through the Kazaks, Uxbeq sor Cubans
Pro fighters aren't active enough each round to keep up with the work-rate of top amateurs.
Olympic boxing suffers from the same shitty judging malady that professional boxing does. Difference being they only have three rounds to totally screw things up.
*Not boxing, no other thread ;D. Unpopular opinion maybe but um didn't Simone Biles flat out quit on her team ???. I mean I get it..yes tons of pressure in the Olympics as a star athlete but not exactly her first rodeo. Just confused by that move and this full rush to throw heaps of 'brave courage' praise on her. Maybe today's my asshole day :-X but bit ironic she just managed to multiple the focus and pressure tens times over on herself after stating she did it for the team and to take a backseat for them to avoid just that. Of course tons of that is on the media but I mean..huh :-\. Maybe in Cynic-ville they wanted to take the spotlight off the Biles shine because they knew they were not going to get Gold. No idea just seems like a trend lately when it comes to the twenty somethings. Alright thread hi-jack over
I always like Richie Woodhall’s commentary. He is a really good technical analyst and had such a good amateur career himself that he is excellent and knowledgeable about amateur bouts. He is the only guy who really analyses anything, the rest just describe what you are already seeing on screen.
I've been saying this for years, Woodhall should be a regular on Sky/BT/DAZN
Brilliant knowledge of boxing.
And jalolov is taking on torrez in the final... Let's see if it works out better for him this time.

"Hebert Sousa win boxing gold for Brazil by knocking out middleweight opponent at Olympics"
This one was quite the stunner. Sousa was losing by shutout to top seeded Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine until he connected with a picture perfect left hook that dropped Kyhzhniak on his back. He got up shakily, and the ref stopped the fight. Until then it had been totally one-sided. This is the cool thing about boxing. One punch can turn a fight 180 degrees. I believe only the 2nd gold in Olympic boxing history for Brazil. Sousa's celebration was something to see. Felt good for the guy.

This year's olympic boxing has many promising young boxers
Galal Yafai did brilliantly to win the gold and looks a top prospect, Eddie Hearn etc will be putting offers in to sign him up.
Team GB did good overall, 2nd highest medal haul of the games.
harry garside brought us home a bronze. our first medal in olympic boxing since 1988
Don't feel bad, @Spicoli
I'm about to do the same thing. ;D Especially given the fact that the Olympics are now over.
But just saw this on the news today.

"A French Runner Knocked Water Bottles Over During the Olympic Men's Marathon"
Funny thing about the accompanying video clip is it ends with a female commentator going "Emmm...." before getting cut off. Would've been interesting to see if she was about to give her take on what they had just seen.
TBH, it looks too much like the guy purposely knocked over the whole row of bottles before "miraculously" grabbing the last one. Especially when the runners ahead of him were able to pluck their bottle without disturbing the rest.
I'm thinking he would've been more effective if he grabbed his bottle first... stopped and tipped the table over... and kept running. Maybe he loses 3-5 seconds, tops. But he also eliminates the second row of bottles in the process.
