Re: Are you afraid to die?
Son is afraid of death and constantly on about cancer, poisonous snakes, diseases in foreign countries if we travel abroad.
I do fear death but want to build a huge legacy for my kids and the next generation but in order to do that I have to live life to its full and that means not always thinking about money.
We could turn this thread around and ask how would you want to die. Manny Steward had his family around him and they were singing. That sounds like a pleasant way to go but i would want to be 112 years old at the time.

My family singing would be an utterly horrific sound.

I don't ever want to die!
If I could live forever I would.
I read an article à while ago, well I will try to write it in English! Can't say I'm good at it but I give it a try!
It was about a girl who was lam, 27 years old and have been lam almost her whole life, she couldn't do anything by her self, she was constantly in need of someone. I'm not quote sure how they talked to each other, but she could express herself somehow and she told the doctors that she wanted to die and that she don't want to suffer anymore, but the Swedish government disapproved her wishes and they would claim the one who killed her, and he or she would be off to jail as a murder. It was something like this and this had me thinking.
All those old/sick people who can't do anything by them self. So i think we want to die at some point, we are curious what's on the other side and someday we have to give up!
That's pretty damn sad though'

The way I figure, when your time comes there's nothing you can do about it, so you may as well try to die like a man.
Maybe one of the reasons we fear death more when we're younger is we haven't done much with our lives, but as we age/mature and fulfill many of the things we wanted to accomplish (hopefully) it's much easier to make our peace and go gently into the night.
You see, I think it tends to be more the oposed; when you'Re older, that you have build a legacy, a family and experienced a lot, you want to live to continue to enjoy these things. Younger people tend to care much less about death (from my experience, at least) because they have nothing to lose; they haven't built much, aren't owning much thing and tend to see death as a very distant concept as they are young and have in theory much more in front of them rather than behind like older folks have.
When you don't have much to lose and when death is only blowing in the far distance, it's easy to not be afraid of her but when you do have something to lose and could feel her coming, it's all another song.

Re: Are you afraid to die?
Strange how some people are scared to live fully because of death and some it works the other way round too they are scared to die, because of life.
Someone I was just listening to just said, I think you are the happiest when you are not thinking about attaining happiness.
Re: Are you afraid to die?
Maybe it's a bit like the championship rounds. Who wants to go through life protecting a lead if you've done very well and had big success. Just waiting on the final bell to end it.
If we think of death as a consequence to action then we might as well stay in bed.
