anyone got any advice on stance, ive been changing from a regular stance to a side-on stance (very side on feet in line) lately, i get hit a lot less in the side stance and find my general movement (and jab) better but my coach doessnt rate this side stance, says i will have no power in my cross?? any advice or suggestions are much appreciated, thanks:cool:

thanks for the good advice guys, my coach reckons cos i am short and a southpaw that the regular stance is better but im def getting better results from side on and not eating as much punches so i will keep working on it and try and get the best overall way .
your stance doesn't have to live in a vacuum.

I started out in a Tyson like stance, because I watched too much Tyson fights. Through the years I switched more and more to a side on stance. It puts the shoulder in line to help with defense, and frees the front (left in my case) arm for offensive purposes.
thats a good point RDJ you definitely are influenced by watching your fave boxers and my defence is a lot tighter in side on, think i was watching a lot of pro boxing and that is a different game than amature

You should be taught as many as possible in the time frame you have to work with,just so you know what your looking at in thereQuote:
