Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Dunno who saw this, dunno if anyone cares, but what a deluded fucking idiot.
So a guy who has never beaten a top 10 Boxer can have a rant because Prograis and Taylor, both World Champions, and both at the top of their division are fighting on “HIS” bill and stealing the limelight.
I don’t blame Chisora, do you know who I blame ? ALL OF YOU CUNTS, AND ME!
We let the journeyman feel like he’s ppv worthy and some of you will even buy his shows. Why? Oh because him and Dillian Whyte had a “right old tear up!”. They’re BOTH fucking pub fighters!
Ok they had a good scrap, but very low on quality, does that make them ppv?
Back in the day, this would be an undercard “filler” , a bit of a fun fight.
Standards for what is ppv worthy in the U.K. have dropped way too low and now there’s no going back.
Cheeky fucker wants MORE Money because he’s insulted ffs.
I really don’t know what else to say.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Whyte and Miller should have fought, I mean if both are cheating then is it really cheating? Chisora is old news, he's been beaten senseless quite literally.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Read some of it. What a blabbering arsehole. Nearing 36 as fast as the double digit losses doesn't make you the show no matter how loud you yell.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
I do blame you brits for paying attention to fighters like that. I thought that Chisora might make himself relevant a long time ago, but then he did nothing. I haven’t seen a fight of his in years
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
This is ppv?
I’d only watch Chisora fight the following morning on YouTube if I heard the fight was a cracker. Haye blew him out over 7 years ago but fair play to him for still making a living I suppose.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
What a bunch of miserable fuddy duddies. He was brilliant :D To see Eddie, Adam and Kalle squirming, lost for words and the embarrassed smile on David Haye's boat was great.
I felt a bit embarrassed for Prograis and Taylor but the fighters at the front were cracking up.
Chisora is right too, his fight with Parker is THE main event as far as sales go (the actual fans who buy tickets and PPV). Nobody outside boxing nerds have any idea who Prograis and Taylor are.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Got to watch this now if it has primo fired up. :)
Chisora is so washed up and still gets so many opportunities because he has his sky contacts who have to make these ppv fights to pay for them subsidising spoilt premiership footballers.
This gives Chisora a deluded self entitlement and worth where he thinks he is better than he really is. The joker must be believing his own hype.
Josh has more talent in his little finger than Chisora has ever had.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Prograis and Taylor. True. Never heard of em

Yeah , ok. So why did they put this WBSS final on the card? Because THE main event wasn’t fucking selling , simple as that.
He can tell Kalle to fuck off, he can have a pop at Adam Smith, even get close to giving Eddie some shit.
But the disrespect he showed to fellow Boxers, Boxers whose boots he wouldn’t be able to lace up talent wise, is completely out of order. Especially coming from him. He has NEVER FUCKING EVER beaten a decent Boxer.
You might say Takam. But Takam has earnt his name by who he’s lost to rather than who he’s beat.
And besides, Takam was beating fuck out of him, so was Malik Scott.

I remember when you knew your boxing, what happened?
Josh Taylor has fought on channel 5 numerous times and beat up Ohara Davies which was an exceptional performance.
The whole thing sounds like a publicity stunt, no way Chisora did not know who the main event was. If he is really has an issue then he should take it up with his manager, David Haye.

Eddie should take up his threat and get him off the bill. Now that would be funny.

Just losing interest I guess. Same with football. No subscription sports channels any more and rarely do a ppv and stopped buying the Ring maybe 12 years ago....

Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Prograis-Taylor is the fight I want to see. I'm mildly interested in Chisora-Parker.
But sometimes it's easy to forget that most boxing fans ain't hardcore like the people on saddo and other forums. Most are casuals and there is no question that Chisora is BY FAR the biggest draw on the Card but Prograis vs Taylor is a GREAT FIGHT for the Hardcore Boxing Fans. Give me a classy lighter weight fight any day. Speed over clumsy fat bombers works every time for me. I'm expecting Prograis vs Taylor to be a lot more entertaining and exciting than Chisora vs Parker.
Chisora doesn’t know how it feels to be a World champion so he is lucky to be even sitting next to one. I would have put him on the low table with the amount of times he has been left flat on his back. He loses every time he steps up but so did Gatti I suppose. Plus this Season of WBSS was a complete FLOP as far as overall interest and ticket sales on its own so again Chisora is right "Nobody Gives a F#CK About That Ali Trophy"
Del Boy has been around Haye to long now. If the heavyweight depth below Joshua, Fury and Wilder wasn't so bad Chisora wouldn't even be entertained. His "Crazy Man" gimmick got old years ago. That’s what happens when y’all let sky and Hearn put on terrible ppv’s with guys like Chisora now he thinks he bigger than he really is.
But Del is right...... but that's also the problem. The main event is top level boxing at its finest. But names sell more than talent. End of the day both fights need each other- Neither fight is PPV in the UK on its own.
Oh how I'd love a Chisora/ Shannon Briggs presser!

You really must not care because this is a big fight. And the weight class has been on fire lately. The best has been fighting the best. This is honestly one of the biggest fights that could be made (to real fans at least).

I agree.
The main event should have been the Chisora fight and he is responsible for a huge percentage of London crowd.
Chisora is on the verge (yet again) on a world title shot if he beats Parker.
Josh Taylor gets props for providing pure enjoyment of making Ohara Davis quit..but it’s Parker and Chisora that deserve the top slot EVEN without a belt on the line.
-
Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
I think maybe it's all one big wink and nod, Chisora knows his role as do the fans and they're just collectively chumming the waters for sake of build up. Chisora has to be grateful that he's on the card and both Taylor and Prograis realize this is their major league super fight to break out. Seriously though its a shame there is any hot or cold about how awesome that 140 showdown is. At some point these old war torn fan faves have to make room for the future and both Prograis and Taylor are every bit that. It's one of the best match ups to be made not only in respective division but the sport and that's all we fans ever piss and moan about wanting.

He can tell Kalle to fuck off, he can have a pop at Adam Smith, even get close to giving Eddie some shit.
I'm explaining WHY he gave them shit and demanded more money, not arguing Chisora should be top of the bill (personally I couldn't give a fuck).
You've got it mixed up mate.
Both fights were announced at the same time, as co-main events, on the Loma-Campbell show. The tickets went on sale at the same time. It's not hard to gauge what the actual punters, people who buy tickets and Box Office, are most interested in. The packed 02 crowd were shamefully "silent" when they introduced Taylor-Prograis (I felt sorry for them) yet roared the roof off at Chisora-Parker.
It's a shame Chisora-Parker are much bigger names than Taylor-Prograis but it's the sad reality.
For the millionth time, it's not about ability, titles, rankings or what someone "deserves," it's purely about what you SELL!!! How many tickets, TV viewers, media attention. The press conference wouldn't have made a murmur without Chisora. This thread wouldn't exist.

But like you said Mate, it’s about what you sell. You’ve said why he had a rant, and fair enough.
My point being that if Chisora/Parker was selling like hot cakes, he would have no need to pad the show up with Prograis/Taylor. They would be able to make that as a seperate show (not necessarily ppv.) in Glasgow Or America.
It doesn’t matter how many people scream when Chisora and Parker’s names are announced, it’s about how the show performs as a ppv.
And I genuinely don’t see people buying it.

You have mistaken Whyte with Chisora it was he who was beaten by Fury twice.

If self-proclaimed "hardcore" fans actually purchased boxing tickets, PPV, subscriptions or simply tuned in to watch, instead of stealing and moaning about being "ripped off," they'd get every fight they ever demand.
This thread is about a veteran boxer pressuring promoters and TV networks for a "fair" shake, based on facts and evidence. Who has got all the shit? The big mouth "slave" boxer who should know his place.

Re: Dereck Chisora ranting at Press Conference
Well, I have to admit that Chisora's ranting has gained the whole card a lot more attention on the mainstream press (and this forum) than it would have ordinarily got !
He always does something like this before a fight ..... and I can just see him high-fiving Prograis and Taylor backstage afterwards
'Nice one, Dereck', 'great presser, mate'
Jack Kearns would have been proud of that one

When you say “fair shake” do you not think he’s getting one for the level of fighter he is?
I’d be intrigued to know how much you think he’s worth.
Or is he “worth more” just because he throws the odd table around , spits at World champions and tells everybody to fuck off now and again!
When does Boxing talent come into it?

When does Boxing talent come into it?
From your very first fight as a pro until your last it is always about how many tickets YOU can sell. That may be because of what you do inside and outside of the ring, how good you are at pestering people, courting the press, playing the game, taking your chances when they are offered, bouncing back, making yourself hated or loved, ....whatever. It is prize fighting and the spectacle has always been part of it. Boxing talent can be there in spades but if you do not sell tickets a manager will not invest in you and a promoter will lose interest. It is unfair and incredibly cruel at times but it is the way it is.
The WBS is an aberration. It is messed up that it should be so unusual, but it is. It would be brilliant if all the champs and contenders were forced to fight each other for recognition as THE BEST in your respective division but sadly it does not make as much money. Check out the X Factor and Britain's got Talent crap getting international exposure when you have more talented artists and bands that will never get past the national circuit.
It is hard not to end up a cynical grumpy bastard as you get older but everyone is out there to milk it for what it is worth. Realistically what is Del Boy going to do when he retires? so he needs to up the stakes and make Haye while the sun shines.

Well Chisora should act with a bit of class and dignity, what haappend to his born again Christian and calm persona that he was promoting?
Putting down top professionals in their division is an idiot move. Hope he gets beat by Parker now.

Ok.so I get the old “Boxing is a business” chestnut, I really do.
But I ask again , as it wasn’t previously answered, if Chisora is such a ticket seller, why did they put the Prograis/Taylor fight on the bill??
They could’ve made another bill , maybe not ppv , but nonetheless another payday for Sky and the promoter.
It’s plain and simple, they had to pad the bill out to sell it, both tickets & ppv. and then they probably “encouraged” Chisora to play the panto villain cos he’s so good at it! And yes , they probably DID pay him more to do that.
Now doesn’t that make any of us feel fucking stupid?

know his place.
No. People will pay or not pay for it regardless. I really don't see how it matters. Both fights are representative of what boxing is all about even though they may seem miles apart. The PPV model is shite but I blame America for that and not the guys fighting. It is brilliant that you have an opportunity to see both but shit that you have to pay twice with a subscription and PPV .That is the crappiest thing about it.

Exactly. You're not alone either, you can count on one hand the amount of people on this site that ever comment on fighters like this.
Like this ;D..do you mean outsiders? Undefeated champs who are particularly fond of destroying the midsection unifying in what was until recently the end all and be all of tourneys. Best v Best. Hey if fans don't want to enjoy something new thats on them.
If self-proclaimed "hardcore" fans actually purchased boxing tickets, PPV, subscriptions or simply tuned in to watch, instead of stealing and moaning about being "ripped off," they'd get every fight they ever demand.

Not sure it's so much an American fault as honestly it feels like majority of decent cards lately are one form of ppv or another. I'd jump to have the opportunity once again to 'pay' for the quality and depth of some of those old King SET completely stacked cards. I think paywalls are starting to hobble the sport though and honestly I cannot recall a years time when I've watched fewer fights. Most views you are simply nickle and dimed and then comes the quality and at times iffy apps etc. Boxing has become more of an isolated undertaking in some ways.

You should see my current cable bill. Where's the slave boxer bit come in???. Nothing but respect for a pro demanding what he feels he's worth but there are avenues and it's literally in his hands in the ring to make a case, fight per fight. Rather than acting part of a bitter ufc style kook show and sharting all over fellow professionals or promotions once again providing an opportunity v top heavies.

"Fair shake?" All he did was ask for more money. That's it, dude. Happens every single fight. The only difference is he did it in public. And in the process has brought massive attention to the card.
It doesn't matter what you or I think he's worth or what level he's at. He's worth whatever he sells.

Eddie has an exclusive deal with Sky. Kalle did the deal with Eddie because he needed a venue and TV platform viable for the final. Last month Prograis pulled out and sued the WBSS, they clearly weren't in a position to give it away free on Youtube and facebook like other events.
The fact Taylor-Prograis is NOT PPV or sells out the 02 without Chisora-Parker (or other big undercard) was the entire point of Chisora's rant. He wasn't saying him vs Parker is PPV, however, without him neither is Taylor-Prog, therefore he'll fuck the show by pulling out unless he gets more dough. He was happy to play second fiddle to "little skinny dudes," but demanded more money as HE (rightly) knows he'll bring in more eyeballs and bums (it's easy to compare previous ticket sales, prices, TV viewership and fan/media interest).
From when the event was announced as CO-main, Adam Smith, Eddie and everyone involved have said Chisora-Parker is the "casual" fans fight, the "casuals" who buy tickets and PPV, the "casuals" who love crazy characters, heavyweights and knockouts and tables thrown and mentals, whilst Taylor-Prograis was a "trade fight" for the "hardcore."
If all that mattered was "talent" then Inoue and Estrada and Loma would be billionaires.

Tyson Fury, Devin Haney, Munguia, Navertee, Garcia, Hunter, Kuzmin, etc, all fighting this weekend, tons of media promotion all over the shop, yet there's more views and posts on here about Nigel Benn-Sakio Bika nonsense. Says it all.

He didn’t have to say him v Parker is ppv, it already was! So he’s getting extra for a ppv that shouldn’t be a ppv , and he wants extra so that is isn’t even headlining it. What sort of fucking oxymoron is that.
Next he’ll probably want even more so that he can throw a table or something!
And yes, 100% agree, this suited Kalle because it gives him a platform to put his final on, but it also suits Eddie and Sky, because it helps to justify the bill’s ppv status . (Not in my book, but hey ho.)
And somebody said ppv’s are America’s fault , which is complete bollocks.
Yeah they started them, but they’re still far more selective about what is and isn’t ppv.
Typical of over here, copy an idea and then rape the shit out of it and take the piss.
