Re: Unfit - Joining a Gym
What is your age?
Asthma could be problem. how severe?
backyard trainers? you rural? id rather learn from a video then someone that don't know how to trainer a boxer correctly. you talk about learning bad habits. " protect your beer at all times " it would be a good idea to be in decent shape going in, some road work can be done at home, jump rope, running things of this nature.
Re: Unfit - Joining a Gym
I'm 20.
The asthma isn't too bad imo. Mainly exercise or cold climate induced. When I exercise for the first 5 minutes or so my chest will get tight, but if I continue it goes away.
I've started running in the morning before work, been walk/jogging in intervals. I've actually stopped this week though due to what I think is shin splints (pain on the inside of lower leg around the bone). My legs are pronated naturally so it's putting more pressure on the lower leg (haven't seen a doctor about them yet, still just trying some healing methods).
I'm in a major city but the local gyms don't seem like gyms at all. One close by is run in a football club's hall, another one is run out of a trainer's home. Oh, I live in Australia, boxing doesn't appear to be as big here compared to the U.K or U.S.
