Floyd says Manny will beat the record
https://www.worldboxingnews.net/2020...cquiao-champs/
Floyd Mayweather had predicted that Manny Pacquiao will overtake him in the stakes of beating the most world champions during a career. At present, Mayweather has toppled 23 world champions during his career. At one point beating 16 in a row, also a record. But it’s the overall mark that Pacquiao, who defeated Keith Thurman to oust a 22nd career world title-holder last July, will ‘probably’ overhaul – according to the ‘Money’ Man. “See they say, ‘the great must fight the greats.’ Well, just look in the history books. You’ll see nobody beat more world champs than Floyd Mayweather,” he told fighthype.com. “Even with that being said, Pacquiao eventually probably would (beat that record). But guess what, Pacquiao was a professional before me. “With everything he has accomplished. Hopefully, he’s made some smart investments.” Prior to facing Andre Berto in his ‘final professional bout’ in 2015, Mayweather stated his belief that his C.V. wouldn’t be appreciated until he was gone.

Re: Floyd says Manny will beat the record
Very likely! Just not sure how great of a record it is in this day.
Wiki states:
Over the course of his decorated career, Pacquiao has defeated 22 world champions—Chatchai Sasakul, Lehlohonolo Ledwaba, Jorge Eliécer Julio, Marco Antonio Barrera (twice), Érik Morales (twice), Óscar Larios, Jorge Solís, Juan Manuel Márquez (twice), David Díaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, Brandon Ríos, Timothy Bradley (twice), Chris Algieri, Jessie Vargas, Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner and Keith Thurman.
Now if I were to ask how many great fighters were in this group -IMO I would delete the following:Chatchai Sasakul, Lehlohonolo Ledwaba, Jorge Eliécer Julio, Jorge Solís, David Diaz, Joshua Clottey, Chris Algieri, Luca Matthyse.
On the fence: Adrian Broner ( not over rated, rather under performed)
& Oscar Dela Hoya( totally too shot, hadn't fought at that weight in a good minute- just a name on his notch)nevertheless a champ.
This link gives 15 for Floyd, too lazy to look on--

Manny has beaten Floyd on many things like weight classes and now potential world champion opponents.

Indeed, Floyd with his legs wins every round instead of 10 rounds. Manny was never remotely smart enough to beat Floyd. That’s why Manny backed out of the agreement. Always remember, they agreed, Manny backed out of the agreement
Re: Floyd says Manny will beat the record
Their records are both as legendary as it gets. Take anyone you like and give me twenty guys they beat who you think stack up better than that list of Pacs?

Negotiations with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Following the victory against Cotto, there was much public demand for a fight between Pacquiao (the number-one pound-for-pound boxer) and the five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (the number-two and former number-one pound-for-pound boxer). Pacquiao reportedly agreed to fight Mayweather on March 13, 2010, for a split of $50 million up front[87] and it was later agreed that the venue for the fight would be the MGM Grand Garden Arena. However, the bout was put in jeopardy due to disagreements about Olympic-style drug testing. The Mayweather camp wanted random blood testing by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA),[88] whereas Pacquiao refused to have any blood testing within 30 days from the fight, because he thought it would weaken him, but he was willing to have blood taken from him before the 30-day window as well as immediately after the fight.[89] Freddie Roach, on the other hand, commented that he would not allow blood to be taken from Pacquiao one week before the fight.[90][91] In an attempt to resolve their differences, the two camps went through a process of mediation before a retired judge. After the mediation process Mayweather agreed to a 14-day no blood testing window. However, Pacquiao refused and instead only agreed to a 24-day no blood testing window.[92] Consequently, on January 6, 2010, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum declared that the fight was officially off.[93]
Because of Pacquiao's reluctance to submit to random blood testing to the extent requested by Mayweather, despite lack of evidence, the Mayweather camp repeated their suggestion that Pacquiao was using banned substances, which resulted in Pacquiao filing a lawsuit for defamation, seeking damages in excess of $75,000.[94] The lawsuit cited accusations made by Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd Mayweather Sr., Roger Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer.[95][96]
After negotiations for the Mayweather fight fell through, other boxers were considered to replace Mayweather as Pacquiao's next opponent, including former light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi[97] and WBA light middleweight title holder Yuri Foreman.[98] However, Pacquiao chose to fight former IBF welterweight title holder Joshua Clottey instead.

The blood testing was in the original contract that he agreed to. But make all the excuses you like. Doesn’t change that they are just that, excuses
Shadowboxing used to provide a beautiful video of Roach saying they agreed to testing, that it was Floyd’s attempt to get out of the fight. Spliced with Arum saying they agreed to testing but Manny shouldn’t have agreed to it. It was hilarious to watch it then see they pulled out over testing they had already agreed to hahaha. And people said Floyd did it to get out of the fight, that makes no sense since the FIGHT WAS ON WITH IT
But if lying to yourself helps you sleep at night, do you
Re: Floyd says Manny will beat the record
I am just quoted the link, so long ago I do not remember the in's and out's. Either way that was when the fight should have happened and it did not. Shame.

Shame Manny wouldn't agree to drug testing.

If it was 5 years earlier it would have been much worse for Manny.
Master, please remember that manny has Marquez problems and was left twitching on the canvas the last time those two met...Floyd played with Marquez like a puppy.
Floyd vs Manny In their primes is like Real Madrid against Millwall..different levels.
They can both play the game but at a different skillset.
Re: Floyd says Manny will beat the record
Fans need to just accept that Manny will always be in Floyds shadow.
I hope he can fight again this year and put on a show like he did against Thurman against a Spence or Crawford?
Manny is a HOF and deserves all the credit in the world.
He never beat an old Floyd and he would never beat him in his prime..accept it and move on.
