Brooks would have made a number of successful defences earning a fraction of the money he got against Golovkin but still would have ended up losing to Spence. He may have had a longer career and be in a healthier position now to face Khan.

Golovkin absolutely ruined Brook. Kel landed his absolute best shots and Golovkin just laughed at him. He walked through him and badly hurt Kel. Fighters are never the same after that type of crushing. No scorecard controversy, no cut, no lucky haymaker. An elite fighter just getting the absolute shit kicked out of him = heartbreaking.
Brook would have squandered the rest of his career anyway as he was cutting corners in training and nobody wanted to fight him at the weight for big money. I agree he would have made a couple of low key defences against undeserving contenders and then lost to Spence anyway.
