Zach Parker v Demetrius Andrade
Briton to fight for WBO interim super-middleweight title at Pride Park
Zach Parker will fight two-weight world champion Demetrius Andrade for the WBO interim super-middleweight title at Derby County's Pride Park on 21 May.
Parker, 27, is a lifelong Derby fan and the winner of the fight will be in pole position to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez for the WBO belt.
America's Andrade is undefeated with 31 wins and 19 knockouts, while Parker is also unbeaten with 22 victories.
"This is a dream come true," said Parker.
"I think every one of us dreams of headlining a show at the football team you support. I don't think it has fully sunk in yet to be honest.
"It will be incredible to walk out and see the stadium packed with fans - I can't wait. Demetrius is a great champion and props to him for coming over here, but I know I have the beating of him, I'm too big for him. We'll see on the 21st, but someone's '0' has got to go."
Andrade, 34, has won world titles at light-middleweight and middleweight in an excellent career, beating the likes of Liam Williams and Jason Quigley in the past year.
Parker was born in South Derbyshire and has agreed that £10 from every ticket will go to Derby County, who have struggled financially in recent years.
Queensberry Promotions won the purse bid to stage the fight and Parker's promoter Frank Warren is delighted Andrade agreed to come to the UK.
"We have done this before in recent years for Josh Warrington in Leeds [at Elland Road] and Carl Frampton in Belfast [at Windsor Park] and both were successful on magical nights. I see no reason at all why Zach cannot experience similar joy," Warren said.
"Andrade is top drawer, but he is moving up to super-middleweight which is natural territory for Zach - and he is a monster at the weight.
"Other British and Irish fighters have struggled to fathom out Andrade, but Zach is the complete package. Not only does he carry a huge punch, but he is also tall and technical with an excellent boxing brain."

Re: Zach Parker v Demetrius Andrade
i would like nothing more than to see zach win but i see boo boo putting me to sleep again with another decision
Re: Zach Parker v Demetrius Andrade
All I have left for guys like Andrade who simply warm trinkets and then abandons them when ordered into an actual tough defense. And if he thinks picking up another wbo paper weight at 168 will force Canelo to seek him out he and Hearn are delusional :-X. Might want to copy it and send it to Munguia also.

Fight postponed after American suffers shoulder injury
Demetrius Andrade's bout against Zach Parker for the WBO interim super-middleweight title has been postponed after the American suffered a shoulder injury.
Andrade, 34, is a two-weight world champion and is undefeated with 31 wins and 19 knockouts.
He was scheduled to fight Briton Parker, unbeaten with 22 victories, at Derby County's Pride Park on 21 May.
The winner was expected to be in pole position to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
"It is with great regret that the decision has been made to postpone the event until the extent of the injury Is fully established," Queensberry Promotions said in a statement.
Queensberry said a revised date would be released in the coming days.
Andrade has won world titles at light-middleweight and middleweight, beating Liam Williams and Jason Quigley in the past year.
Parker, who was born in South Derbyshire and is a lifelong Derby fan, said it was a "dream come true" to headline Pride Park when the fight was first announced.

Re: Zach Parker v Demetrius Andrade
Have to call it. Andrade has to be one of the most wasted talents on this era. And at some point he has to um shoulder some responsibility for how mediocre his run has been and what he signed up for. At 34,35 the injuries will only come more often but at least it's just a postponement and not cancellation.
Re: Zach Parker v Demetrius Andrade
demetrius is apparently not going through with this fight. i have no idea what he is doing. could lead to zach parker v john ryder, that's a good fight

Does even Andrade know what he is doing? He was in a strong position and now he is getting weaker and may be out of the world title picture if he keeps on avoiding ordinary boxers that he should beat.

Andrade has been feasting on these poor quality Brit fighters for a minute now. It is becoming boring and repetitive. He needs to be challenged.
