Re: can roman gonzalez become a force again?
I think gonzalez has been written off a bit too quick, although in the big Wang sor rungvisai rematch he just looked weird... He also probably should have one the first fight too... In his comeback fight v the uber entrepreneur he looked very rusty early on but worked himself back into pretty good form later in that fight... Quite inactive since then which might be bad, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him look very good.

Re: can roman gonzalez become a force again?
roman gets his chance next week to climb back to the top of the mountain
Re: can roman gonzalez become a force again?
i think chocolatito has emphatically answer the thread title question
Re: can roman gonzalez become a force again?
Yes he has, he looked great at times yesterday, I don't think he has the engine he used to and maybe a bit less speed but the git is just top class..I don't blame anyone for writing him off after the Bing Wang rematch though, he really did look totally done after that one.
Re: can roman gonzalez become a force again?
with naoya moving up could chocolatito potentially move up to bantam & pick up another world title in another division?

It would depend on who he fights. Not impossible to imagine. It's funny that you take Inoue out of 118 & the devision automatically becomes more competitive

if nonito stays at bantam that's a dream fight
Re: can roman gonzalez become a force again?
chocolatito is planning to return at bantam

Looks like a grand return to his hometown July 12th for the first time in 9.5 years. Hoping it's a shake the rust off for final run and not a farewell but a definite must see. One of the last greats of his era.

Err, Estrada gave him a very close fight eight years ago two weights below, and they've been going in opposite directions over the last few. Hardly a comeback story or "revenge", surely? I'd also like to see Gonzales win this and look good, mind you.

Chocolatito has always been one of my favorite fighters. Hard to believe he's "only" 36 years old what with all the mileage he has. Yep... he's had a classic trilogy with Estrada, coming out on the short end in the last two. I'm not sure of what Roman could accomplish at bantam, as he'd have a definite height/reach/age disadvantage against the champs at that division. Maybe stay at superfly and go for some of the titles there.
BTW, welcome to the forum. :)
