Yep he could well be the real deal.

Ah big boxing. Do miss that daily injection especially today! This would be great but tons to work out. Sounds like they're tryin to work a way to involve a couple thousand fans but tall order :p. Teo feels like a kid who could go either way for me. Be the next explosive superstar or one we see unexpectedly call it a short career. He feels like a guy with a lot on his mind. Think Loma over the distance all the while keeping respect for the pop of Teo but really widening the gap late on.

If I had to put money on it, I would no doubt pick Loma. Lopez is a live underdog though.it wouldn’t completely shock me if he pulled off the upset.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
Lomachenko-Lopez in doubt
Top Rank will have three shows the rest of August, with one in the U.K. on Aug. 15 and then shows at the MGM Grand Conference Center on Aug. 22 and Aug. 29. Then, they’re scheduled every Saturday in September, and perhaps longer, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said.
But that series of shows may not include Teofimo Lopez. Top Rank had hoped to make Lopez vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko on Oct. 5 at the MGM for the lightweight title, but Arum said that Lopez has declined the contract offer.
He said Lopez’s representatives told him that the coronavirus pandemic isn’t Lopez’s fault and so he shouldn’t have to take less.
“The contract we offered them is already more than double his highest purse and they starting talking all this crazy stuff,” Arum said. “They were talking numbers based on a $3 million live gate and close circuit. It’s crazy! They’re saying, why should they be affected by the coronavirus?
“Loma has a contract and he’s already given us relief. He’s fighting for less than his contract says because he gets it. I’m not in the business to lose money. If they turn down a record contract for him, nothing I can do. On to the next.”
Arum said if Lopez can’t come to terms, they’ll look to pit Felix Verdejo against Lomachenko.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
Loma may have agreed to a cut according to Bob, but how can we know that's true?
Is Bob known to be an honest and trustworthy guy?
I'm sure Bob will find a way to compensate Loma, if he really is agreeing to less pay.
Also, remember who called the Lopez KO win first.
-
Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
Being honest for all the barking and dropping names Teo did and finally lands a date with Loma it's pretty meek and suspect to back out. Fighters fight for money, we all get that. But there's a rash of young diva types..R Garcia, Haney and apparently Lopez who are putting the cart waaay before the horse thinking they're due the world prior to taking names and claiming scalps on their way up. Teo crushed Commey fair enough but you can't just spend a year popping off only to say 'nah I'm good' without being doubted after all. Shame really. 1.2 Mill looks mighty fine to so many others trying to feed their families too in this current economy. Hopefully he's just driving at hard bargain gaming it because if Arum plans on Verdejo as an option I can already hear some tuning out.

Major props to Loma. Looks like he's not letting Lopez off the hook that easily, taking a substantial pay cut so Teofimo can get what he wants.
No excuses now. Hopefully the fight's back on.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
This has to be the best match up out there currently possibly.
We could learn alot about Lopez, but the craft and experience of Loma I see as the deciding factor for him to win. That being said it wouldn't be a huge shock if the youngster pull off a shock.
Bookies make Loma 1/4. Probably the lowest he's ever been.
-
Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
I think very highly of Lopez but the gulf in experience is to wide. Lopez has size and power to hurt Loma but catching him clean will not be easy. I've got Loma taking Lopez deep and drowning him.

Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez title unification bout set for October on ESPN
Though contracts are not signed, Top Rank president Todd duBoef confirmed to Yahoo Sports on Wednesday a report by The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger that WBA/WBC/WBO lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko and IBF champion Teofimo Lopez will meet in October in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Conference Center in a bout that will be broadcast by ESPN.
The title unification bout, one of the biggest in boxing that could be made, pits the pound-for-pound star Lomachenko against the brash, hard-punching Lopez, who is 15-0 with 12 knockouts.
The fight had been targeted for Oct. 3 on pay-per-view, but with it looking like ESPN would have holes in its fall schedule because of the uncertainty of college football due to the coronavirus pandemic, Top Rank and ESPN were able to come to an agreement to put the bout in the second half of October on ESPN.
That makes it a huge windfall for fans that all but guarantees the bout will be the highest-rated “Top Rank Boxing on ESPN” in this iteration of the promotion’s deal with the network.
Lopez, 23, has been calling out Lomachenko, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, since early in his professional career. Lopez became a sensation because of his power and colorful persona.
Lopez, a Brooklyn native, represented Honduras in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when he failed to make the U.S. team. He did not medal and signed with Top Rank as a pro, and immediately began to wow fans with his punching power and in-ring antics. He was the 2017 and 2018 Yahoo Sports Prospect of the Year, the only fighter chosen more than once.
Lopez won the IBF title in spectacular fashion on Dec. 14, knocking out Richard Commey in the second round.
In Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs), though, he’ll be facing by far the most difficult challenge of his career. Lomachenko won Olympic gold medals in 2008 in Beijing and in 2012 in London while putting together a mind-boggling 396-1 amateur record. He has already won world titles at featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight as a pro and is ranked third, behind Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, on Yahoo Sports’ list of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. Lomachenko is No. 1 on many other lists.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
asyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez have now agreed terms to meet in a highly anticipated unification fight targeted for October 17.
Ukraine’s WBA, WBO and WBC ‘franchise’ lightweight champion will get the opportunity to secure the final belt he hasn’t yet won at 135lbs.
America’s Lopez claimed that elusive IBF title by knocking out Richard Commey last December.
Despite being just 22 years of age, he subsequently called out the pound-for-pound star and they have been in negotiations since.
It was reported that Lomachenko initially agreed his side of the deal for a $3.5million purse.
However, Lopez was not happy with the $1.2m he was offered.
Now, according to The Athletic, Loma has agreed to take less money ($3.25m) to make the fight happen.
It’s claimed Lopez could now earn up to $1.5m.
“We came to an agreement,” Lopez’s manager David McWater confirmed to BoxingScene.
“It was a complicated deal but we made it. Bob Arum and I have been talking and we finally got it done.”
October 17 is the target date for the fight inside Top Rank’s MGM Grand ‘bubble’ in Las Vegas. October 24 is also possible.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
Top Rank announced its October schedule on Tuesday and it’s the company’s best month since it returned in June from a delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Top Rank had previously announced the Oct. 17 lightweight title unification bout between Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez, which will be on ESPN and be for the IBF-WBA-WBO lightweight titles and the WBC lightweight franchise title.
But it announced its full schedule, which has a number of entertaining matches on it.
On Oct. 3 on ESPN+, Jose Zepeda will face Ivan Baranchyk in a super lightweight bout.
On Oct. 9, KO artist Emanuel Navarrete will face unbeaten Ruben Villa for the vacant WBO featherweight title on ESPN.
On Oct. 23, light heavyweight Artur Beterbiev, who is 15-0 with 15 knockouts, will defend his IBF-WBC belts against Adam Deines in Moscow on ESPN+.
And on Oct. 31, budding superstar Naoya Inoue, who is 19-0 with 16 KOs, will meet Jason Moloney on ESPN+ for the IBF-WBA bantamweight titles.
All fights except for Beterbiev-Deines will be at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.
He said it
“Teofimo Lopez can talk all he wants. He’s very good at talking. He has done nothing but say my name for the past two years. I am a fighter, and my goal is to win another world title. Good for Teofimo. When we fight in Las Vegas, he will eat my punches and his words. I will be the better man, and four world titles will come home with me to Ukraine.” —
lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Vasyl Lomachenko to face Teofimo Lopez in Las Vegas
Vasyl Lomachenko, recognised by many as the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, will take on Teofimo Lopez on October 17 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Lomachenko holds the WBA and WBO lightweight titles and has been elevated to ‘franchise’ champion with the WBC, but the Ukrainian faces a stiff test against the undefeated Lopez, who is in possession of the IBF crown at 135lbs.
The Ukrainian, a three-weight world champion, has not fought since defeating Luke Campbell at London’s O2 Arena in August last year, when he took his record to 14 wins in 15 professional contests.
https://s.yimg.com/it/api/res/1.2/vh...9594079e512b02
The build-up to that contest was notable for the respect each fighter showed the other beforehand and afterwards, but Lomachenko revealed he has grown tired of his next opponent’s taunts in the last couple of years.
“Teofimo Lopez can talk all he wants,” Lomachenko said. “He’s very good at talking. He has done nothing but say my name for the past two years. I am a fighter, and my goal is to win another world title.
“When we fight in Las Vegas, he will eat my punches and his words. I will be the better man, and four world titles will come home with me to Ukraine.”
The brash Lopez became world champion and moved to 15-0 in his native New York last December when he stopped the highly-rated Richard Commey in just two rounds, elevating the American’s reputation as a fearsome puncher.
He said: “I will beat up Lomachenko and take his belts. Simple as that. I’m coming to Las Vegas to make history. I don’t like the guy, and I’m going to have fun as Lomachenko’s face is beaten and marked up by my hands.”

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
Yeah, i've been following Lopez the last few months and he's become a fucking beast... like legit a Light Welter already. Wouldn't surprise me if he had a fight night weight of 155+ against Loma come September. The kids a specimen, and skilled.
-
Re: Teofimo vs Loma: Sept 19th..... Who ya got?
I’m very high on Lopez but I think many people forget that Loma is arguably the best p4p fighter in the world today. Lopez hasn’t proven to be that level yet. If Lopez does win, I think his size advantage will be a big factor.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: ... Who ya got?
Vasyl Lomachenko will return to the ring later this month following over a year out due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
‘The Matrix’, widely regarded as the pound-for-pound king, beat British fighters Anthony Crolla and Luke Campbell in 2019 to retain his WBA and WBO belts.
Lomachenko has claimed victories over a host of big names in his professional career to date and is now gearing up to take another scalp.
Amid the complications facing global sport during the coronavirus pandemic, news of his next fight has been slow in coming but now he is ready to enter the squared-circle once again.
Lomachenko will be in action on Saturday, October 17 when he faces off against Teofimo Lopez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
‘El Brooklyn’ Lopez is the IBF lightweight champion and will put his belt on the line against Lomachenko’s titles.
Lopez has an undefeated record from his 15 fights to date and last beat Richard Commey in Madison Square Garden in December 2019.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: ... Who ya got?
Wonder if Lopez pulling off a big win is in a way 'better' for boxing. The fact that they're fighting is all I care about but what next should Loma win. Any talk of moving up where some big talents at 140 are themselves talking of 147. Does he stick around for a Garcia or Haney who are also considered still young and yet to face a top name. Though Garcia is set for Campbell and to Haney choice the later side of 40 yr old Gamboa. Winner of Santa Cruz v Davis most likely baring a rematch. Then again whos to say that if Lopez pulls the win he may just move right up himself.
And to get ahead of it...this is on regular ESPN. That Saturday Oct 17th is stacked with more College Football than you can count, 10-13 games. They better have a back up plan if they run over as not to delay a main event of this caliber ;D.
-
Re: Teofimo vs Loma: ... Who ya got?
I really want to stay up and watch this fight. Lopez is a cocky arrogant but talented kid when I heard him on the radio. He said he is he bigger fighter and will win this. He wants to move up after this fight. Hope Loma wins but this will be a tough match for him. Credit both fighters and no ppv which is respectful to the boxing fans.

Re: Teofimo vs Loma: ... Who ya got?
I still think that Loma wins it. I think that Lopez is a very good young fighter and is a live dog but Loma is much more proven. There’s a reason he is consensus too 3 p4p fighter and even #1 on a lot of lists. Although I am pulling for Lopez.
