BOXING SCIENCE. INSTRUMENT(S) USED TO MEASURE PUNCHING POWER?
Hey people,
I am curious to know what the name of the instrument(s) that measures a boxer's punching power, or the PSI (Pound-Force per Square Inch)?
I am looking into opening my own boxing gym and want to buy one of these.
So does anyone know the name of the instrument and where I can buy one?
If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out Rocky IV. Ivan Drago uses one in this movie. I know pro boxers use them too.
Thanks.
Re: BOXING SCIENCE. INSTRUMENT(S) USED TO MEASURE PUNCHING POWER?
I searched around for something like this for quite a while but couldn't find anything..
I'm sure certain companies that do industrial stuff would be able to make one and if you were serious about having one in your gym, you would be able to have one made quite easy..
I designed one once using a grip strength tester set in between to boards.. One of the boards covered in padding and leather, and you would punch it and the force would compress the grip tester and give you a measurement...
That's basically what your aiming for.. But I did search for quite a while, and they obviously aren't a common thing and you would probably need something custom built for you.
If you want more details about the one I designed just let me know, but i'm no engineer.

Yeah thanks for the info bro.
If you could tell me some more info about your design, that would great.
