Artur Beterbiev v Callum Smith
Callum Smith is set to challenge Artur Beterbiev for the unified light heavyweight world titles in Canada on August 19.
Beterbiev currently possesses the WBC, WBO and IBF belts and will aim to defend them against challenger Smith in Quebec City.
Two-time Olympian Beterbiev enters the bout with a 100 per cent knockout ratio (19-0, 19 KOs), while Liverpool’s Smith (29-1, 21 KOs) is a former WBA super middleweight world champion.
“I’m excited to finally get my opportunity to become a two-weight world champion,” Smith said.
I will be returning to Liverpool as a world champion once more
“I’m no stranger to fighting on away soil, having boxed in Saudi Arabia twice, across America, and now heading to Canada on August 19.
“There was no hesitation from me going to Canada to fight Artur Beterbiev, and I will be returning to Liverpool as a world champion once more.”
Beterbiev added: “Quebec is my second home, so I’m very happy to finally defend my titles on home turf.
“When you are world champion, everyone wants the opportunity to take your belt, and that’s especially true in my case, with three titles at stake.
“I’ve already started my training camp, and I’ll be ready to not only defend my belts, but to also put on an impressive show August 19.”

Call me crazy. I give Smith a slim shot. It's slim and not large at all :-X, but he's looked a bit better at the weight. Let's put it this way he'll defintley show up with more passion and drive than a Zurdo for his golden opportunity. Hard to believe it's almost two months away. We're in a fight and action void this week for sure.

Before the Canelo capitulation I would’ve given him a shot as well, especially against an ageing champ (although he hasn’t shown that yet.) but that Canelo fight disappointed me so badly, I can’t really trust him anymore.
Re: Artur Beterbiev v Callum Smith
I was extremely disappointed in Callum effort against Canelo too especially after a career best performance when he stopped and retired Groves.
I want Beterbiev to win so that a unification fight with Bivol can still happen. His fight against Yarde was one of the best FOTY.
I can see Callum feel the power and try and survive again.
Re: Artur Beterbiev v Callum Smith
The highly-anticipated fight between Callum Smith and unified light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev has been postponed.
The Canadian has undergone surgery on his jaw after suffering from a bone infection that came as a result of dental work.
This means the 38-year-old's mandatory title defence has now been delayed with a new date yet to be announced.

This is really unfortunate. So jaw/ tooth infection? Don’t hear about that a lot today. Hope they can get it back on track. Always a pleasure watching the one-man-wrecking crew that is Beterbiev!

Crazy. Smith will be stopped within 2 rounds.

Could be wrong but that would really surprise me. Outside of Smith Jr who set up shop directly in front on Beterbiev, crossed his lead foot and said Hey hit me, Beterbiev usually takes some time to get rolling. I can see a methodical breakdown turned beat up mid to late but Smith is able to keep it smart with decent enough pop early.
Re: Artur Beterbiev v Callum Smith
American journalist Dan Rafael reports that Bivol has signed his contract for his side of the deal to face Beterbiev next.
However, Beterbiev must first beat his WBC mandatory challenger Callum Smith on January 13.
If Beterbiev does emerge victorious though, he can then negotiate his side of the deal to face Bivol and potentially sign to finalise the fight in 2024.

I agree.
Disappointed with his performance against Canelo as he seemed star struck.
Would that Smith have beaten a Benevidez?
Either way, like Mayweather says you need to perform under the spotlights.
I see Smith crumbling and it’s a shame as his left hook is vicious.
