What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
What if Charles Martin was the current WBC world champion instead of Deontay Wilder, would AJ/Eddie make the unification for the undisputed title in the next fight or would he continue to make his mandatory defences?

But it wouldn’t be Undisputed because the IBF and/or the WBO Would strip him for not fighting his mandatory.
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
would martin still be wbc champ if he had faced to same opponents as wilder? i highly doubt he gets by ortiz
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
No doubt. It’s all about risk/reward. They would obviously do everything in their power to unify if it was basically a guaranteed win. Because it’s not, they are just going to continue making some more money for a while.
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
Im not sure what the point of asking is? Yes they would try to make the fight, because Martin couldnt win, has no major backing and would happily take whatever share of the purse. It's the same scenario that already did happen when Martin had a belt, which one or how many others would be at stake is moot really. If Martin had the IBF belt then Wilder would want to fight him instead of anyone else for all the same reasons.
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
Probably, as the step-aside money needed would probably be manageable. The IBF/Bob Arum/Pulev would probably accept $10 million (which is ball park what he'd make against AJ). The WBO/Uysk $10 milllion.
Martin's purse? Lets say $30 million (conservative estimate considering it's a fantasy scenario).
So $50 million in the hole before they start (less than half the $120m Wilder refused).
Yeah it's an expensive way to get 4 belts but they'd probably do it.
And then everyone would claim Joshua ducked Uysk and Pulev to face phony champion Martin.

If AJ did do all that and beat Martin to become the WBC champion he could do what Lennox (and most of the other fighters that become undisputed champion) did and relinquish/sell off the titles one by one to the highest bidder to make some money back. Lennox got a reported $1 million and a Range Rover from Don King to give up his WBA title.
AJ would keep the one title and he would be regarded as the best and all champions/contenders have to go through him to be considered the best.
It is an investment worth making and no one could really call him a ducker.

Hold up... does Wilder exist in this fantasy world where Martin is WBC champ? Because if he does you would consider him the best fighter, right, regardless of Martin being WBC champion.
So AJ would be the four belt unfied champion of the world. However, he'd still need to defeat Wilder to become no.1, right? And then there's Uysk? Kowanaki? And two dozen other guys considered better than Martin?
Here's the reality - Wilder can duck Joshua for the rest of his life but the spin job done has been so brilliant (along with his own ability to produce highlight reel KO's) that Joshua will always be seen as the ducker. It literally doesn't matter how much money Wilder gets offered Joshua is always to blame. Why? Because he's a million times bigger star. Simple. And meanwhile Wilder can claim to be THE champion to his American audience whilst cashing a few million per fight and claiming Joshua is scared of him.
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
everyone can see who is saying no out of his own mouth. Everyone can see who is clearly shook
Everyone can see Fentanyl trying to blame the African American(just a coincidence)
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
Fair question. Has the "gap" closed even a smidge between Joshua and Wilder in terms of popularity? Seriously.
Lately, Wilder has knocked out Ortiz twice and came to a disputed draw with Fury, having come fairly close to a KTFO win in the last round.
Meanwhile, Joshua got KTFO'ed by Moby Dick... then won a reportedly, decidedly uninspiring victory over an even fatter Moby Dick.
How long do we keep playing the Wilder's a Nobody and Joshua is King of the World card?

That is a bit of an odd claim to make. Black British, African American, Nigerian, White British who cares?
Well you seemingly but you seem to be alone.

Hmmm. Shall we rewind to the time when Team Wilder “offered” AJ $50 Million at a time when Wilder later admitted he had an operation on a Broken arm.
Why bring the “African American” bollocks into it? Smh.

In terms of money, Joshua is the money man by miles. Popularity, I guess it depends, in the UK Joshua can sell out large arenas, Wilder not so much.
Joshua's win over Ruiz was far from "uninspiring". Those claiming it was Wlad mark 2 over exaggerating. The clinches were minimal and Joshua moved and boxed.

Because Ron's a massive hypocrite who routinely deliberately misconstrues what people are saying to push his own agenda.
Everyone knows Joshua is more African than King Jaffe Joffer.
Re: What if Charles Martin was the WBC champ?
Charles Martin was very possibly the worst ‘titleholder’ in heavyweight boxing history (and there has been lots of competition for that dishonour)
If he held a belt, we would see Canelo coming all the way to heavyweight .... and probably beating Martin as well
