Watch him, he's just not that special. He throws crazy wide shots. PBF or ODH would take him apart.

I feel that both would beat Tony also. He reminds me of a bigger Chico.
Margarito used to say how he was whoopin on Oscar in sparring. He claimed that Oscar is/was afraid of him.
Most of those crazy wild shots were as his opponent was stunned and it didn't matter. He really is a good pressure and inside fighter.
I've seen him fight quite a few times, and he don't pressure as much as people say. He tries to walk them down if anything, and that won't beat Floyd. Tony is not as agressive as Castillo or Hatton, and would get picked apart trying to walk down Floyd.Originally Posted by SecondRoundKO
With Oscar's resume, I doubt he would be afraid of Margarito. He fought Hopkins, and that says a lot about courage.Originally Posted by baller

Every time I get my a** kicked, I call everyone and tell them that they are scared of me! Ha Ha Ha!
Slower less skilled Chico.Originally Posted by Unknowndonor

***Sorry, that was pretty low, but I'm just calling it how I see it.
Comparing the two is just NoT RiGhT.
Do I have to explain the difference?
I'll give a hint, Chico, for the most part, sets up for that one shot that can knock out anyone
he's in the ring with. Margarito never thinks about setting up for one shot.
A pure volume puncher. Diego has awesome one punch power, while
Margarito aims to give a beating of a lifetime.
Chico and Tony are different species in the ring.
Also, Diego looks way more conventional than Margarito.
Before the Mayweather loss, Chico did nothing but punch in volume, just like Tony. Chico has fell in love with his power over the past few fights, but used to fight just like Tony. Watch some of his early fights.Originally Posted by Gyrokai
Yes, they do look alot alike, Tony just looks alot slower.
CC,what a dumb analogy. Please someone, enlighten me of a fight Chico throws as much as Tony does. Tony uses a jab more of often that not,has worked the body,et cetc Diego has the haymaker,1 punch ko power, hardly ever uses a jab or works the body etc etc. The only similarities are there heights and sometimes leaky defence but if that means they are similar then Castillo and Magarito must be similar too,the way the come forward, good jab, punching in numbers, working the body, great grit and determintion etc etc.Originally Posted by Gyrokai
Watch Chico against Justin Jukko, or almost any fight pre-Mayweather. Plus, against most boxers who are mobile, Tony doesn't punch that much, just like Chico didn't against Freitas or Floyd. What about Castillo-Corrales? Chico threw more punches that fight than Tony ever has.Originally Posted by The Game
And for the record, Tony looks nothing like Castillo. Not nearly as aggresive.
I just think that Margarito is nothing special...I mean that being said Floyd or ODH or whoever wants to be "THE MAN" at 147 needs to beat him though.
Margarito reminds me of a less defensive Winky Wright...his arms are long which makes his punches slower. He leans over and therefore can get caught with an uppercut. He has a right cross and that's all I see....other than that he's nothing to get all worked up about but he still needs to be beat to totally discredit him.
Oscar has fought and beat far better
PBF is too quick for that right hand but I think straight punches would be the way to go vs him, just none that slow.
Hatton would destroy him on the inside because his punches are shorter
A fight with Cotto would be BRUTAL, a fight of the year candidate!
Unknown, usually you and somewhat agree.
But never at this. First things first, they both have entirely different body frames AND belong in different divisions. You know Unknown, THAT actually matters in itself. Chico's scrawny and tall body is a wonder. I still can't believe he was able to fit himself into Super Featherweight, especially when he's just about as tall as me!!! Crazy!
Also, Diego, unlike Mayweather, is actually fighting the fights and earning a name for himself. Casamayor, Freitas, and Castillo. He's done more than Mayweather has ever done in the past four years. He's actually taking risks against quality opposition.
And please watch more Margarito fights!!! Because your sounding like an ignorant b*stard when you say stuff like this. hehehDon't EVER compare Diego with Margarito, Seriously. You almost sound like a racist b*stard. heheh
So, they both have some Mexican in them, that's about it they have in common.
Watch Margarito in his Santos, Lujan (Margarito actually plays the Boxer), and Cintron fights. Even after Margarito's "loss" he keeps on trucking with his machine like style. Also note that Margarito throws from diagonal angles UPWARD and downward!
Earth to Unknown, if you fight anybody with world class movement, you can't punch as much! Tell me something I DON'T know. That's what the sweet science is about. Also about Justin Juuko, first of all that was SIX years ago, even Diego was too young to realize his own potential. Diego and Mayweather squared off over FIVE years ago, with Diego only improving in time. The Diego of Justin Juuko wouldn't last against his current competition. Joe Goosen as Diego's trainer has really helped his game, mentally and technically. Diego was just a young man, now he's a veteran of the game with great fights and accomplishments back to back to back.
Margarito has earned his shot, like any good man, the hard way. And to say he doesn't deserve it because he "looks like Diego did six years ago" is just not smart.
