I think Gracie will win, everyone is always talking about how strong hughes is, but remember Kimo was way bigger and stronger and he still lost to gracie.

I don't know a massive amount about Gracie but from what I have seen he looks extremely fast and even more slippery. I think those two factors nullify Hughes' strength. Gracie in the first.

I'm really not sure who to pick in this fight because Gracie hasn't fought in awhile and I'm sure he isn't what he use to be. Now Hughes has been fighting pretty regularly so I really don't know. I want Gracie to win because I really can't stand Hughes even though he is one of the best. Hard call but if I have to make a prediction I'm gonna go with Hughes just because Gracie kinda old now.

I think it depends on how much Gracie has been working on his stand up. If he can use a somewhat decent jab to hold Hughes outside, he might be able to force Hughes to go to the ground. If Hughes has his way, this fight will NEVER see the ground. Hughes by decision.

If Hughes was a big time striker I'd pick him easily, but the fact that his forte is great take downs, along with overpowering opponents and pounding them into the ground makes me wary. Unfortunately obviously gracie's strength is fighting from the guard. So its strength on strength. I've seen Hughes power out of some awesome submissions so its not inconceivable that even if gracie gets one sunk that he can tap Matt out. I'm picking Hughes simply b/c this isn't the early 90's. MMA fighters are well versed in BJJ now and gracie isn't going to suprise Hughes with what he is going to try. Gracie is the better submission artist but to me Hughes is a more well rounded fighter. I'm not so sure about the GI issue. I know that there are some very specific uniform rules set out by the state commisions. I'd be interested to find out myself.
