Why are so many people talking sh*t about this match-up?

This is gonna be one of boxing's greatest fighters fighting his last match, and its against Tarver. I think Hopkins has a good chance of beating Tarver. If Glen Johnson can, so can Hopkins.

Listen...I'm a huge Hopkins fan...but I just don't see him being able to carry the weight & get off like he does at 160lbs.

I'm holding out hope that he will be able to outwit Tarver down the stretch...but if not...this really detracts from his record if he get's KO'd or even humiliated, IWO.

Hopkins is not cut out for 175. He was nearly unstoppable in his early years & 160. He lost his first fight when he decided to fight @ 175.

    I'll watch it...& I'll drink with it (not to it) & I'll cover it...but I won't like it...unless he wins.

Because its silly, he's jumping up 2 weight classes to fight the best 175 pounder right now who is also a slick lefty. Imo he should just retire but i guess these guys always miss being the center of attention.

Agreed. But I don't think that it's the center of attention.

It's the legacy for Hopkins. He conquered Oscar, he lost to argueably the best @ 160 in Taylor, & now he wants to beat argueabley the best @ 175.

I just don't want to see him take another loss on such a great career as the one he's amassed.

Its alose lose situation for Tarver, but I think hes too dumb to realize it. If he beats Hopkins he beat up on a ancient smaller Former champ. If he loses, then he lost to a 41 y/o. He calls himself the legend killer. I think hes so tied up in everyone elses legacies that he will never have one. People will be saying Tarver who? in 20 years. B-Hop will still be talked about

I think Tarver cares more about cash than his legacy. This is the biggest payday he could get right now.

He's already got a spot in the hall of fame. I don't think it would hurt his legacy even if he did get knocked out by Tarver.

Yeah...he's already got a spot in the HOF & everything he's accomplished is awe inspiring & it'll be quite sometime before anyone tops it...but you look at what's said about Jones now after his KO losses & his last showing.

    It'll hurt the 'Nard.

Yes, I am going by pretty much the same reasoning. Hopkins STOPPED Johnson back in the day. He is a very crafty fighter. A master boxer really. He can lull guys to sleep, and get them to fight at his pace then counter them, that is what I think he will do to Tarver. JJ from Good Times, I mean Tarver, would be wise to go right after Hopkins early rather than trying to play chess with him, cus he'll lose if he does. And Wacko, damnit man have some faith in B-hop.

Tarver wins, he beat Jones twice. Hopkins, who can't even beat Jones, loses by KO, and retires for good.

This fight is being "dogged" because its wack!!
2 boring fighters who like to counterpunch. I'd much rather see Hopkins fighting Roy.

Oh I got faith in Hopkins...just not right this moment...the closer we get to the fight...the more I'll warm to the idea...but I know that in the end...I'll be let down one way or the other.
