Default If PBF rematched Castillo, Hatton should rematch Collazo!

I stole this topic from a point Starr made in my "Big Surprise! Hatton ducks Collazo rematch" post. And it's an excellent point. PBF got a controversial decision over Castillo in their first fight. Most, including me, felt Castillo won. And PBF did the right thing, listened to public appeal and gave the guy the rematch. Why doesn't Hatton do the same thing?

1- I dont wanna hear anymore anti-PBF crap from people like Salthebutcher.
2- CC for Starr for making an excellent point.

Why would Hatton give a rematch to guy a he beat fair and square who stylewise is his worst nightmare? It wasn't a controversial decision, it was close fight that Hatton got the nod in. Theres much bigger and better fights out there for him - Castillo, Cotto, Witter etc... Collazo fought a great fight, was unlucky the verdict didn't go his way, and I'm sure, and the end of the day is immensely grateful to Hatton for putting him on the map

strange thing is mate the same people who are saying the fight stank are the ones crying for a rematch

for me if it happens it happens... and i guess the decision will be made and not withing the first week after the fight no matter how hard the anti hatton brigade cry

Didn't sum1 post saying the WBA are making hatton fight some other guy if he stays at welter?

So IF hatton wanted to stay at welter and fight collzao he would first have to defend agasint whats his face, then get the callazo fight. Spending like what, 18months in a w8 he doesnt want to be in? 18 months where he could be fighting the people at light welter who he has his eyes on.

I'm sure you heard most 'experts' all agree, the type of fighter hatton is he only has 1-3 years left in him. So why spend half of that time going through aload of crap to fight a guy, who could get knocked out, beaten badly, injured in that time and render the hatton re-match a waste of time, waste of money and a possible loss of titles he cuda picked up fighting at light welter

IF ricky was staying at Welter then yes, if he said he wouldn't fight him - then agreed it would be a duck.

The move he is making now is the best move for him self, and in the sport you gotta look after #1 before anything else.

I did wonder if Collazo would be as eager to rematch if Hatton vacated the belt to avoid Urkal.

Amazing how almost none of you, Saddo included, adressed the post topic.

Yes, Hatton won a close fight. But he promised Collazo a rematch, face to face. Some of you folks are just so high on Hatton (FOR OBVIOUS REASONS) that as long as he wins, it means he doesnt do anything wrong.

he had just won the tittle, is it no obvious he was gunna say what ever he had to say to shut the guy up? There is a time and a place to sort matches out, and in the ring after a fight isn't the place!

The way I see it is, Floyd beat Castillo, IMO, both fights. If the first wasn't clear enough, the second was. As for Hatton, it was a close fight, I gave it to Hatton barely, but I wouldn't argue a draw. I can't say that I think he is scared of Collazo, but he knows he can't beat the bigger guys, regardless of skill. He should give Collazo a rematch to heal the public, and settle it, but only if he plans on fighting at 147 again. If he stays at 140, then he should be stripped, and the belt should go back to Collazo. Or an eliminator with Collazo fighting someone else. I would say that Ricky should give Collazo a rematch to show his heart, but if he doesn't, and he goes down to fight Cotto, Corrales, or Castillo, I would say that's his best business move.

Regardless, Hatton will not beat Floyd Mayweather JR. And definately not at 147.

cant see anything wrong with winning a fight... regardless of what you think mate the decision wont be made because you and your alter ego Mr Nightmare doing millions of anti Hatton posts... the world just dont work like that...

but at the risk of REPEATING myself

A better prepared Hatton and i aint talking a 7 weeks notice one who by the way won the fight all be it close BUT and well perpared Hatton would be a landslide victory and even and anti hatton fan like you would be able to see this.

so for me whats the point in wasting time with a rematch when there are far better matchups to be made for Hatton...

or are you saying the first meeting was such a classic you want to see it again

It wasn't a classic, but a good fight. Although I agree that Hatton would look better with more prep time, so would Collazo. It's also Hatton's fault, and his team's fault for not having the proper time. I think Hatton would win the rematch, but he clearly doesn't belong at 147. Collazo is a good fighter, don't get me wrong, but Hatton wasn't able to impose his will, or tire Collazo like he does at 140. Hatton can't fight the bigger guys. I would say a rematch would show how much heart Hatton has, but going back to 140, is clearly a better business decision. So, I can live with both scenarios.

Yes i agree there should be a rematch. Calozzo was the champ and many felt that he won the fight.

Only if he (hatton) stays at 147 to defend his WBA belt. Otherwise no.
