Default The future for Corrales and Castillo

I think were all agreed what happened last night was disgraceful in too many ways. Us, the fans were robbed of the chance of a great spectacle. Corrales was basically robbed of 1.2 million with the world watching and the chance to prove himself a HOFer.

Now the big question. What will happen with the future of these fighters, both who are already long in the tooth and need to make moves fast.

    First Corrales.

Poor Diego, this was his big fight. His Hagler-Hearns, his Ali-Foreman, his career defining fight. Hes been robbed of this in such a cruel way, what else is there out for him?? Does he face Popo Freitas, who he should handle with ease, or similarly Juan Diaz. Neither of these fights will make the money or leave the mark this fight of but they seem the way to go.

However I do see one way Diego could try and at least make similar money, and possibly carve out some gorgeous fights. Look five pounds below you Diego. Manny Pac, Erik Morales, MAB. If Diego calls out any of these guys and can get them to move up and fight with one or more of them over the next 2 or 3 years, we'd have some awesome fights on our hand and money makers for all concerned.

Now Castillo. IMO there is no way Castillo should be allowed to fight Cotto or Hatton or anyone for that matter for the next year. Even if simply was a case of him genuinely missing weight, the guy lied to everyone, telling us everything is fine, and not giving Diego a chance to consider a catch weight or pulling out earlier.

More to the point. Did you guys see the weigh in?! Castillo looked like a freaking ghost. He was skin and bones and looked like everything was sucked out of him, and he weighed 140!? Shouldnt we be considering wheter he can even comfortably make 140 to fight Cotto? I dont know that he could have had much strength the way he looked last night.

There are still possibilities for great fights for both fighters. Boxing and everyone involved here needs to move on and try and get such things sorted so we can forget about this whole sordid incident. What ya'll think?

Exactly, the fucker barely made light welter. He should be suspended for a year and fined in my opinion. He mislead everyone and the camp probably knew for the past two weeks that he probably wasn't gonna make weight. I also think that Corrales' options for big pay days are limited. Diaz and Freitas are decent options. If he's smart, he moves up to 140 and takes on Cotto.

and Hatton is prime for a loss....that would be an excellent measuring stick...if he beats Corrales then he has a legitimate claim to fight PBF....if...
It feels good to be back home.

I'd like to see castillo go up to Light Welter weight (which he clearly needs to at this point) and Ricky Hatton go back down and stick those two in the ring together. That'd be a fight worth watching.

Um I think you're being too on Corrales' right now. Because sure it was his career defining fight. But there was little doubt to the outcome as he would have gotten knocked out. And HOF credentials? Having one fight of the year doesn't make you a HOF fighter. On top of that the other shining moments Corrales is remembered for is getting beatin by Mayweather in such a fashion, and getting beaten by Casamayor BOTH yes I said BOTH times. And is remembered for that great fight with Castillo but being knocked out in the rematch. If this fight had happened(lets say Castillo made weight) Corrales would have been knocked out. He doesn't have HOF credentials.. not even close. But then again, neither does Tarver

People were basing this on the second fight, where Castillo enjoyed his advantage of not sweating down and weighing too much your forgetting. Ok the eventual KO punch was a result of Corrales being to open at that particular point, he should have learned from that. People (not just you Starr) forget that in the only (debateably) fair fight, Corrales won.

    Corrales' win was legit IMO

Exactly, we forget to put the asterix next to that fight because of Castillo's unfair advantage.

Im not saying he already does, but this was a career defining fight. If he had beaten Castillo he would of had a very impressive resume, which could eventually be worthy of HOF status.

Lets not forget he was robbed of the purse for this fight thanks to Castillo, 1.2 million is nothing to be scoffed at.

Lets get back to the original theme though guys. What do you think will and should happen in these guys two futures?

Hatton Castillo would be a good fight, but I'm opposed to it because of how unprofessinal Castillo has been in this whole affair.

He fought just 5 months after that. He would have returned to form with the 9 month rest imo. But come on Starr...stop hating Corrales. You saying Corrales would be KO'd is nothing but speculation.
