Default Joe Mesi next fight announced

    Marquez, Mesi headline July 8!

    Wednesday, June 7 2006

    By Damien St. Pierre

Bayou Promotions and the Coushatta Casino have pulled out all the stops for their next event billed as "Knockouts at Coushatta XII". The event is set to take place July 8, 2006 at the Coushatta Casino and Resort in Kinder, LA. And for the second straight show former world champion and Houston, Texas native Raul "El Diamante" Marquez (36-3) will be featured in the main event. He will face Darrell Woods (24-10) of St. Petersburg, Florida. In 2005 Woods’ scored his biggest win as a professional with a 12 round split decision victory over Emmett Linton (33-4-2). In Marquez’s last appearance in Kinder he beat a very game Miguel Hernandez via 9th round TKO.Also, in what could be the most anticipated undercard bout in the history of the "Knockouts" series, former heavyweight contender "Baby" Jose Mesi (30-0) will be in action. This is "Baby" Joe’s second bout in his very highly publicized comeback and first on U.S. soil. An opponent will be announced shortly. Also scheduled are light heavyweights Chris Henry (13-0) and Richard "The Alien" Grant (19-13-1) in a six round matchup of boxer (Grant) vs puncher (Henry); Houston, Texas native Jose "Pitbull" Diaz (11-0) will take on experienced veteran Phillip "Bring The" Payne (16-18-1) of St. Louis, MO; IBA Continental Americas light heavyweight champion Valerie "The Wolfe" Mahfood (19-11-2) of Beaumont, TX will round out the card. She will take on an opponent to be named later. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster or by calling 1-800-584-7263.

it will be an awesome card. I live in houston and i am not too far from there so i will most likely go.
