That if Winky Wright was in a close fight which he won, the judges would give him the nod?

no.. they'll never dethrone the champ in a close fight... that would be the most controvercial thing. It was a draw... I've seen it 2wice... It was a good decision but even if winky was up by a point and it went to a close final round that could go either way...no it wouldnt happen

It happened to B-HOP in the first fight with Taylor though...and he was champ for 10 years not 10 months....Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF PROVIDENCE"

It feels good to be back home.
Yeah but the whole 'you have to take the fight to the champ' thing is irrelevant in boxing... what if it was two unknown club fighters? As soon as that bell rings its just two men in a ring... their are no champs...Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF PROVIDENCE"
Its double standards... the champ can win close fights but no one else can? Boxing is not about hand outs.
Not that it matters anyway... Winky pushed the fight almost all of the time, landed more, rarely took a step back and unless you count Winky blocking a 4 shot combo on your gloves and tucking up as points worth of Taylor didn't allow Taylor to do much aside from a few crosses in the middle rounds.
and u are correct but that, as im sure u will agree, is an exception... I think taylor won the second fight but not the first... Thats why boxing is so controvercial... I think That was done cuz theyb needed a fresh face... If they would have given Bhop the nod in the first fight I dont know if taylor would have come back for a rematch so quickly

I see what you mean....but what I think they are trying to get across is it it's a draw the champ wins...if the champ loses outright he flat out loses.....Originally Posted by AdamGB

seeing as how B-HOP let everyone know he was leaving anyway....they needed a new Posterboy for the division....insert Taylor.....Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF PROVIDENCE"

Who knows... It's not as if the judges were way off or anything, although having Taylor winning is a bit much.. But the fact that 2 of the judges gave Taylor the 12th tells me Winky could have won the fight, easily.. Not that he didn't win the 12th rd either, it's just he could have done alot more and evidently gotten a decision.
They Dethrowned Hopkins.....Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF PROVIDENCE"
You just summarized what I've been trying to say in the 20 or so post I've made on the subject with that post. 100% right.Originally Posted by AdamGB

And back to the topic at hand. No. I knew that the fight would be close going into the 10th, and that was reason enough for Winky to not get the fight.
Winky would have really won that fight if he did not run those last two rounds, I am sorry, but I feel that to be a champ you have to fight like one....Whats the difference in him fighting the first ten rounds and fighting two more to finish it offOriginally Posted by AdamGB
He really killed me at that point...
The bad part of it is, I see way to many fighters do it in Boxing...And when the fight ends up in a Draw or a loss to decision, they sit back and bitch about it like someones going to listen to em about it....Dont be a puss, get your ass in there and fight!!!!
