Moments ago heavyweight contender Monte Barrett informed Boxingtalk.com that he has signed on to face WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev on October 7 or October 14. Barrett stated that it is his understanding Valuev has also signed for the fight and is just waiting to hear from DKP with the exact date and place

Truefully.  He was an outstanding boxer.  With a great jab.  He had very good defense.  And his chin was pretty good. Problem was he had no power.  He had Sergio Mora power.  He also never fought outside of Germany.  That right there is why he's constantly bad mouthed.  He earned numerous, actually he was given numerous gift wins.  His wins over Charles Brewer (both of them) Byran Mitchell, Robin Reid (this one was really bad) Mads Larsen and Thomas Tate (the first one) were all gifts.  They weren't "it could of gone either way" wins.  They were straight robberies.  And they praise him in Germany for it.  The only thing I would say about Ottke was that he was active.  He averaged about 4 fights a year.  Which is unheard of for Champions today.

Ottke won I think by scores of 118-111, 115-112, 115-112. In reality Ottke won like 3, at best 4 rounds. Reid got robbed of a win that he won pretty easily.

Fwock man! Actually...I like this fight if it comes off...but he'll look like a midget compared to Valuev. Remember Barrett Rahman? He looked smallish in that fight.

This would give Valuev a bit more cred if he won...& he will.

Valuev will win this fight, he has improved since the Ruiz fight and brigns more dimensions now, i think he wins quite comfortably.

We'll have to agree to disagree, not taking anything away from Valuev cause he has fought some decent 2nd to 3rd tier guys, but I just feel Barrett is the real fighter here!!!
