Default **Calvin Brock** Contender or Pretender

I dont know I've seen fights where he looked good but against medocre comp... He seemed to struggle in gis last fight against a game opponant... He just seems to be "just another heaveyweight" If this guy is gonna save the div. everyone must be seeing somthing I'm not... I've seen like 5 of his fights now and even his last KO as cool looking as it was, look at the opponant and the arangements.... I dont know... The jurys about to come in on this guy and ....well.... He gets a C+

I think the best summary I've heard about Brock went something like this:

He's good at everything, but great at nothing.

I don't think he will be the end all, unifying heavyweight, but
with the current competition in the HW division he is above average.
I guess it's all relative. I don't think it's too far out of the question for
him to grab Rahman or Lyakovich's belts do you?
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

He's good at everything except learning to dodge right hands.

I don't think he can beat Lyakovich, and he definitely can't beat Wlad. A somewhat in-shape Toney would win a wide UD over him too. I'd also lean toward Rahman, but Brock could maybe take that one--they're both on that pretty good/far from great level.

Anyway, I agree with everything that's been said here--he's good at most things, great at nothing, and a C+ fighter lucky to be fighting in a current HW division with a C- curve. I'd also add that he's boring as hell to watch.

I honestly think he could beat Lyakovich or Rahman, I agree that the rest would be out of his reach though.

Brock way over rated in my opinion. yeah he has had a few good outings , however his last one was one of the most boring heavyweight fights in the history of boxing, and thats saying something ! I actually forget why I like boxing , while I was watching that fight. Brock’s not going to bring in any kind of fan base with that performance...Now Chazz Witherspoon,, now we got a Heavyweight that has some thrill quality to him . 6"4 230 and a non stop puncher for 10 rounds. maybe the next Riddick Bowe? Time will tell. I can say that I won't be tuning in for another Brock fight on his accord, Calvin will need to be fighting a top guy to draw me in !

I don't know, I found Chazz Witherspoon VERY unimpressive in his last fight.

It wasn’t because of his punch output that’s for sure... He was in there with a game undefeated fighter 11-0 nobody want to give up that 0 ! I guess you could make a case about his power, what he needs to do is clinch his fists more on impact and he will start knocking them out !

He's a bigg a** chump, pretender or whatever you want to call it. His main sparring partner is/was Brian Minto who is the biggest chump ever that guy belongs fighting at bars and at frat parties not in the ring. Real fighters make the fight no matter who the opponent is. Brock is a good example of how desperate ppl are getting for a fresh new hw to make waves in the division but it sure as hell aint gonna be brock.

    I like Brock.

He's fun to watch & he's got a lot of heart...& he is good at everything but not great at anything.

He's definently already proven that he's a contender...how long he will last once he get's in with the bigger big boys is the real question.

    Har Har Har

    Calvin is bound for glory

if he fights the right title holders! VS Wlad he's good as dead, VS Rahman it's a toss up, VS Valuev GOOD AS GOLD, VS Lyakhovich he'd do well
