Default Did we miss the fight of the year???

    http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Kasdin/Kasdin_080906.htm

As many internet boxing aficionados know Vincente ‘El Loco’ Mosquera, 24-2-1 (12), lost to Edwin ‘Dinamita’ Valero, 20-0 (20). Valero, who is Doug Fischer’s adopted son, won the WBA super featherweight championship via stirring ten round technical knockout. Those of us who followed the excellent round by rounds provided by some Spanish speaking posters read about what could have possibly be the fight of the year.

The fight started out with a bang with Valero dropping Mosquera twice in the first round. The second round would continue to see Valero on top but Mosquera fought back hard and would drop Valero in the third round. The fight would go back and forth with each man standing toe to toe and trading furious power punches. Eventually it would be Valero
that seemed to tire and Mosquera would jump on him and attack the body. That was until Valero got a second wind and apparently started to apply better boxing technique and rained punches on Mosquera eventually stopping his very game but outgunned foe.

Now obviously I did not see this fight, and it is because of that I cannot say for sure that it is the fight of the year. However from the chatter on the boards it seems as if Mosquera vs. Valero would have given Hagler vs. Hearns or Castillo vs. Corrales a run for its money.

I have been a fan of Valero since Dougie first showed him to the public three years ago. Like Dougie I saw the skill, explosive power, speed and desire in this young man. It is great that Edwin has won his first title, and it is also good to see that Edwin can recover from fading early to comeback and win big. Plus it is apparent that he can provide boxing fans with exciting fights which can only help him and boxing as a whole. Now I do believe that despite the win it would be better if Edwin did not go for the quick knockout from now on and that he uses his considerable boxing skills to break down his foes. It is his boxing skills that impressed many of us early on, and it is that ability that I think can take him further than any other aspect of his game. Hopefully the video of Valero’s fight can be uploaded somewhere, and hopefully this young talented man can fight in the United States again and become one of the great fighters of our era.

Fingers crossed,I should be able to get hold of this!!!

Bro I'd love a download too, if you get a hold of this fight. Valero could possibly be the goods.

I'll trust you on THIS ONE Game, but I bet he went down on a counter punch in the 3rd and the opponent he fought isn't a huge puncher

You should trust me on this one for sure,Doug Fischer's son is the man and I believe he will go far! I have yet to seee the knockdown but that shows he can take a punch and get back! You're right though,Mosquera has 12 kos in 24 fights so he's not that powerful.

With you on this one. So many people think he is a mindless brawler but what they don't realize is he was getting $100,000 bonuses for each 1st round ko. He really is a boxer. Watch him sparring with Morales if you need proof. He's the real deal folks, known this for a while

    CC Game.

Jimminy Christmas...I hate to be the one to say it...but Valero will be exposed once he fights a boxer.

This is just my opinion...& I know that everyone thinks my opinions are like bungholes...kinda smelly...sometimes upside down...sometimes rightside up...

but...I've now seen two Valero fights...& they were both against what I would consider to be nobodies...& I weren't that impressed.

The kid's got power...no doubt...but I question what happens when he fights someone that has a good defense & can moderately punch or either logically box.

We shall see...but chalk me up as a non-believer.

We don't know yet. But...who in the division is like that? Pacquiao is the class right now, he did good in sparring against an in shape Morales and he's about the closest to it. Then there's Pac. To be honest, I would rate his chances better against a Morales or Barerra rather then Pacman. Again, he's a little bit off, maybe a year and he's primed for the top.

CC back Amat(clicked you other guys today except Bilbo, give me my dam CC! :P). Yeah,I heard Valero shows more of his skills in this fight too and don't worry,I'll try to get the fight real soon,or I'll download it and then re upload it somewhere? I think this guy will be top man at 130,give him a year, let him pass some tests, break into the states and get the big fights.I mean most were predicting he would lose this one so some are shocked already and of course he's going to look sloppy Wack,he was getting absurd amounts to KO the guy in 1 round!!
