    Default Jeremy Williams in K-1

I just read a piece on Maxfighting that Jeremy Williams has been training to compete in K-1. In addition to boxing, he said he studied kung fu when he was younger and that he knows how to kick. Apparently he's been working out with some guys at a Muay Thai gym to prepare. Any opinions on how he'll do? I know most boxers (Mercer, Botha) haven't had much success.

I'm a firm believer that as long as a boxer can learn to properly adapt himself, theres no reason they can't dominate any combat sport.

Haven't seen any of the above mentioned boxers, but if you can teach a boxer to modify his stance just a little bit, to check a kick, and how to throw a leg kick or two, they should be able to dominate most kickboxers (who for some reason tend to neglect the boxing part of kickboxing...anyone else ever notice that most of them can't punch very well at all?)
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

I agree with you . you notice the few K-1 fighters that do throw punches well tend to do be winners over all . Mark Hunt for example. CC click.

Id heard that Williams was already fighting in MMA...anyway the guy was a average pro fighter at best I doubt he will be successful in K1. A championship caliber boxer might be able to augment their style to kickboxing and do well but not someone like williams. Boxing is a one dimensional combat sport, it may not seem like a huge difference but once you add the assortment of kicks(especially leg kicks) with knees and elbows most of the boxing stratigies that one has spent years making second nature are completely altered.

    Fightnews.com

Saturday night's K-1 debut of heavyweight Jeremy Williams was terminated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, apparently due to Williams' scary KO loss in his previous fight against Sam Peter in 2004. Williams is a trainer on the hit TV series "The Contender." Unbeaten boxer Dewey Cooper did compete at the K-1 event at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, losing a decision.
