Default Was Carl Weathers ever a boxer

I was watching Rocky I on t.v. and I hadn't seen it in a long time, but I noticed Carl had an extremely fast jab and a quick enough cross I was wondering if he had any credientials as a boxer? R.I.P. Mr. Weathers.

He has outstanding credientials. He was Heavyweight champ. He only loss his title cuz he refused to play it safe and instead went for the knock out in a fight he was ahead on points in. That fight and the final round where clearly the best fight and round of the last century.

No, Carl Weathers was never a boxer. He played football for the Oakland Raiders for a bit though.

Weathers was a great physical specimen, but he was never a boxer for real.

Nah actually Drago only wounded him. It was the Predator that finally finished him off.

    Taken from Wikipedia .com

    Career
Weathers was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School and then went to San Diego State University. At San Diego State University, Carl was a member of the school's football team. This led him to a career as a linebacker with the Oakland Raiders and later on with a team in the Canadian Football League (British Columbia Lions); he retired in 1974 to become an actor. He had his first parts in two Arthur Marks directed 1970s blaxploitation films: Bucktown and Friday Foster, both in 1975.

In 1976, he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in Rocky as Apollo Creed, a role he would reprise in the next three Rocky films in 1979, 1982, and 1985. He also starred in a number of action films, both theatrically and on television, including: Force 10 From Navarone (197, Predator (1987), and Action Jackson (198. He also had parts in the Adam Sandler comedies Happy Gilmore (1996), Little Nicky (2000) and Eight Crazy Nights (2002).

During the final season of In the Heat of the Night, his character of Hampton Forbes replaced Bill Gillespie at the chief of the Sparta, Mississippi police. He continued that role in the television movies based on the series. His noted other TV role was on the cop show Street Justice where he played Sgt. Adam Beaudreaux. He also played as MACV-SOG Lt. Col. Brewster in the CBS series Tour of Duty.

Weathers most recently played a cheapskate caricature of himself in several episodes of the Fox Television comedy series Arrested Development.

Outside of acting he is a member of both Big Brothers and the United States Olympic Committee
