Excess protien is converted into fat or shitted out Snakey, so yes it will if you over do it.

You won't really build muscle quicker either, tbh it's just a convinient source of protien, minus several other nutrients you would find if you where getting you're protien intake from lean meats.

Personally I would just eat a lot of complex carbs and clean, lean meat like Chicken and Beef with out added back fat.

Yeah, the thing is. I wanna build muscle but the only weight i wanna gain from it is the weight from the muscle not from fat. You know adam, people always want quick results and i aint immune from that wish . But in starting my weight lifting this week i know i can do it without added help from protein shakes and stuff and i will do it if i have to.

trust me, they don't really help... all they help to do is make Suppliment companys money and take up room in your meals that could be filled with protien filled with with Vitamins and minerals you need... not ot mention ruffage... that stuff gives you the shits :P

Train hard and eat well, no need to line peoples pockets and chase gimicks, meat has all the essential Amino Acid's you need anyway.

If you want to add muscle to your frame, you're going to have to eat more Calories than your body uses, this means you will gain some fat, can't be avoided, you just burn it off once you have made your gains.

A lot more to building muscle than just protien, you need calories to make it happen, otehr wise it's like having a load of bricks and no builders to put the wall up...

Damn man really wanted to avoid putting on fat. I worked heaps hard to lose around 10 kilos a while ago, kept it off. Now i just want to tone up and put on some muscle. By the way...shouldnt the bricklayers be putting up the wall and not the builders :P

Fuck im surpised how bout how easily your fitness goes down. Before when i did weights, i could do them for ages and now im only doing them for 20 mins at the most. Which in a way is good coz thats about all the time i have for them at the moment

Reversability... use it or loose it :P

You loose it a lot quicker than you gain at first time round, it won't take as long for you to get back to the level you used to be at this time round though.

All to do with peaking and stuff

You don't really need to do more than half an hour for weight training. I never understood how my friends spent two hours at the gym doing weight exercises. If you do it properly, no reason it should take that long.

As far as the protein, like everyone else said, theres no supplement out there that you can't get by without. If you're eating properly, theres no reason for the supplements. Even creatine....if you eat red meat, there's no real reason to take creatine, as your levels should already be up there.

I suggest if you have a spare half hour, you go watch that video I posted on "The Workout Myth?" thread.

To summarize it though, just workout and eat properly, and you'll get in shape. None of that overpriced crap will help you get in shape faster, or in better shape than just working out with a proper regiment will be able to.

EDIT: Holy cow...when did I get 280 posts in here? Last I knew, I was around 100 :P
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

If your diligent enough to be able to drink down the stuff 2-3 times a day, then yes, it will help. It adds a good amount of protein and calories (stuff that builds muscle and weight). However, it is almost useless to drink the stuff down without doingn weight training. You have to balance it out. I think about 80% of weight training is eating right. You can workout all day for all I care, but if your not eating properly, then you won't see any gains.

That's right heavy, if you eat your steaks like me then you're practicly on Creatine any way... Just costs a fraction of the price, is full of other nutrients and tastes great!

Don't know what I'd do with out my George Foreman

Mmm. I love me some tenderloin steak. I never get a chance to grill though I just use the oven heater. And it tastes plain too Do you have any good tips on making good steak?
