Default As i never saw the Peter Toney fight....

All i have read about since last nite is the apparent 'robbery' that saw Sam Peters beat Toney on points.....which even though i havent seen the fight would be the last outcome i would of saw. Would like to get a overall feel for the bout by using a poll.

Sad boxing politics I agree with someone elses post in another thread " it was like the judges filled out there score-cards before the fight took place" (or something to that degree) Peters face was worn out you tell me who landed the cleaner effective shots..Wasnt even a scratch on Toney's face. Peter knew he lost he looked as suprised as the lucky B****** who has a $100000000000000 lottery ticket when Lennon announced him as the winner

It was tough watching Toney after the results had been called and the camera focussed on him in his corner looking downwards and looking very serious...he knew he won that fight...

Like B Hop in the first Taylor fight, that must be a very hard thing to swallow...

I stated that it was gonna be a Got Damn draw on the DRBR thread........Which I felt that they would be screwing Toney, but never thought Peter gets the nod and be such a desparity in the scores...There is no way Sam Peter wins this

It was Toney's last true shot and you felt it seeing him that way....I say Valuev or even (dare I say it? YES, I do!!) let Wlad get in there with Toney....

Toney would give Valuev fits and Wlad: Toney is just a fight I would love to see....

Doesnt sound like a robbery to me if its only 7 to 4 in Toney's favor.

Most Telling Moment of the Fight:

Going into the 12th round, Freddy Roach Tells Toney that he needs a knockout to win.

I just watched the fight today, does my scorecard look that bad? I had a draw...

    Peter - Toney
9 - 10 Close round could go either way. Peters right jab looks actually really fast for him.
9 - 10 Toney outclassed him from the start, great bob and weave.
10 - 9 Toney was hurt at least twice in that round and it showed.
    9 - 10 exciting close round.
10 - 9 Peter still trying to land rabbit punches, i dont respect that. JESUS they just showed the scored cards and two had Peter winning by a wide margin, WTF
9 - 10 Very good round by Toney, landed many many clean shots.
    10 - 9 Close
10 - 9 Commentators say tough round but I think it was a clear win for Peter.
    9 - 10 A close round i scored a draw plus the point deducted.
    10 - 9
    9 - 10 uneventful round.
    10 - 9 A close fight.

I scored round 9 10 - 9 Toney because I felt the round was dead even plus the point deducted. Now that I go back and think about it I want to change it to a 10 - 8 round but thats not what my initial insiticts told me so it stays...

Yea, it seemed like Freddy Roach thought his fighter was loosing.

Miles, I made this same comparison. Including any fact that I am a big Toney fan, the fight may have been somewhat close with Toney ahead by about 3 rounds I'd say.. and with the additional point deduction, there was no way in the world that Peter won.

I havent posted on here in a long time... Im really drunk right now, but I saw this godtam robbery. Toney won the fight, no questions in my mind, I hate it, this decision get's on my nerves more than any in a long time, because IMO Toney displayed what a godd damn fine fighter he is the other night, he overcame absolutely everything the younger, much stronger, and bigger opponent had to give, he straight up stood in front of Peter and took everything he had, while giobiving his own.. Say what you like about Toney as a person but evenm the biggest hater should see he won that fight.. Peter was ridiculous with his rabbit shots and everything he could possibly do to abuse his natural size but Toney fucking weathered absolutely everthing, never went down, clearly won more rounds, and showed masterful boxing over 12 rounds... He should be awarded the WBC title shot as he or Peter would definetly(imo) whip Maskaev... But Toney deserves it more... I don't think he could beat Wlad Klitschko on his best night, but he would have a shot if Wlad were to be less than so, but anyways, I don't see anyone else who could actually beat Toney, he is a GREAT fightr and athlete, this just sucks. It is pitiifully similar to the Bhop taylor fight, as a great great fighter displayed what true boxing excellence is, only to be shafted against the flavour of the month.

Toney won the fight, period! Roach is an idiot for telling toney he needed a knockout to win. This call was a complete disgrace. This is the kind of crap that ruins boxing. I think open scoring is the only way to solve this major professional boxing problem.
