Default BARRERA WILL RETIRE AT END OF NEXT YEAR!

Don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but it's definitely big news.

    Q&A: Marco Antonio Barrera!

    September 6, 2006

    By Felipe Leon

    ***

I assume that this is your last fight of the year?

Yes, with this bout we close out the year.

When do you expect to fight next year and against whom?

Well, next year, 2007 is the last year for Marco Antonio Barrera. I have thought about it, I have discussed it with my family and my team, this is news that I have not even spoken with my promoter yet, Oscar de la Hoya. We want to fight two or three times in 2007 and then we are leaving the stage set for those younger warriors.

In what city would you want to fight for the first time or return to fight in the last year for Barrera?

We would love to fight in Mexico City but we know that the big fights are held in the United States, especially Las Vegas. We are going to discuss it with Oscar and see if we can make this dream come true and have the pleasure of fighting in my native city.

In an ideal world, who would be your rivals for those last three fights?

I haven’t really thought about it but the fight that comes to mind would be a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

CC and this still leaves hope for a MAB vs EM IV

    MAKE IT HAPPEN!

    Now to the what if..

What if they do fight and EM wins?

There has to be a rubber match for best out of V.
It would be crazy if they both went out fighting each other.

But then again, MAB could win the IV and that would be all she wrote.
This has big money writen all over it.

Can you smell what the rock is cookin'?

I guess we will just have to wait and see how EM does against PacMan and see what happens with MAB vs Rocky.

The Three fights should be Pac-Morlaes and Chevez

I hate to say this or admit it but PacMan is too much for anyone right now.

I dont think Barrera should fight Pac-Man. Every fighter has that 1 guy that he cant beat and pac is that guy. Barrera should fight 3 winnable fights and call it a career and end with a W

I disagree, i think Barrera is not the fighter he once was but he had an off night against Pac in his prime i would take Barrera to win, if they fought now Barrera would fight a more cleverer fight i think he would loose but not as bad as the first time.

True, but that one loss does did not hurt his legacy, but a second one would stand out a little more. He is an all time great though no matter what he does

MAB/Pac is easily in my top three fights I'd love to see...I think it would be a much different fight than the first!

Barrera would definitely retire come September 16

.........and it won't be a good exit, TKO late round

Juarez will fight Pac bec. Pac hold the WBC International Title and is a mandatory challenger

I hope you realise that if Juarez wins then those fights won't happen

Barrera has done enough for boxing. His retirement is well deserved.
