I was disappointed but also satisfied that barrera won by such a landslide and showed how multidimentional fighter he is, I believe marco doesn't get enough credit for being a smart boxer. i think his brawling aspect usually overshadows it, but todays performance was pernell whitaker like
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

I just about nodded off after the 5th round!!, Both fighters should be taken to Court for that shit , The undercard was brilliant though i must agree.

You mean like when Pernell schooled Oscar thne got screwed in the decision? The main event was pretty boring, Barrera was playin it safety first, and even then wasn't pot shottin Juarez to make it exciting really, but what an undercard! We found out a little bit about Paez's chin. And I was pissed Barrios lost, but he fought bravely. Also I was surprised Jhonny gave Vazquez so much trouble, I knew Vazquez was gonna KO his ass, but I didn't think Gonzalez would drop him or it would take that long to do it. Pretty good night of boxing overalll. The undercard made up for the lackluster main event no doubt.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Marco's performance tonight was reminiscent of Barrera's fight with Johny Tapia. Boring and Safe.
But you can't deny that Barrera's just too damn smart for most of these guys.

I agree with you guys that the main event was lacking in action. Juarez just couldn't get it off and that's to Barrera's credit. The undercard was great and made it worth it for me.

Another thing that makes up for it is the fact that MAB doesn't have many fights left (and confirmed it in the post fight interview) and it was reassuring that he still has it before he undoubtedly embarks on some big matchups before he says "adios."

As for Juarez, I wonder about his future at the top level. He admitted in an interview that he fought his way to the top by setting up his hook and that he won't be able to do it against the better fighters. He has pop but his immobiliaty and short punching range will keep him from being great. The good news is that 130 is shaping up to be the hottest division in the sport and Rocky will have opportunities to make a career of it yet.

    I knew this would happen.

MAB deserves respect for what he did tonight, he threw Rockyoff for a loop. Rocky is still right now thinking what the fwock just happend. MAB switched it up on him and Rocky didn't have an answer.
Now I agree it was not a firework fight or a thriller, but it was like mentioned a Pernell/'Finito' Lopez type of performance and for that he should be applauded.

CC from me too. I enjoyed the fight because I could sit back and appreciate the clinic Barrera was putting on. True it was a different kind of excitement from an all action fight, but the awesome undercard more than made up for that.

Oscar and Golden Boy should be appluaded for putting together one of the most loaded nights of boxing in a long time.

It wasn't thrilling but its always interesting to watch a slick boxer, at least to me.

And the card had everything, cause you got to see different kinds of fights, Vasquez/Gonzalez was an all out war, Guzman/Barrios was a pretty exciting fight and a guy like Guzman is fun to watch to me, and you got a great technical performance from MAB. Little bit of everything, I like action fighters and boxers so it was good IMO.

And you cant leave out Paez Jr. though he didnt show his skills and decided to trade it moade for an exciting fight.

Back at 'ya. cc. You & me both I had my drink in my hand and was just sitting back drinking and just watching him go to work. Now MOST of you guys know I fancy Erik over MAB but what MAB did was simply majestic.
For the first fights I was on the edge of my seat all night, once I saw MABs plan all I did was sit back drink and watched him do his thang I was clam and relaxed just enjoying his performance.
