Witter could fight Hopkins next month
By Ant Evans: Newly crowned WBC welterweight champion Junior Witter could make a rapid fire first defense of his title on November 25 in the McAllen, Texas.
Sources close to HBO have confirmed that Witter v Demetrius Hopkins - the nephew of legendary Bernard - is a fight HBO are very interested in for their Boxing After Dark card which will also feature Jesus Chavez v Julio Diaz.
Bradford switch-hitter Witter only won the last in September, beating DeMarcus Corley over 12 less than enthralling rounds in London on September 15.
Hopkins, 24-0 (10) is an improving fighter but, like Witter, he has yet to scalp a top 10 opponent.
However, this is a good fight for Witter. The relatively short notice would be a risk worth taking, as the bout would be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and will give Witter the chance to wash away memories of his dismal showing against Zab Judah in his only other US TV appearance.

Interesting fight, kind of a surprising matchup if it happens
